Do You Actually Read The Terms of Service?
No. But I don't use Apple products so I don't think I'm at risk for any kind of scientific experimentation.

California University Bans American Flag
I'm no proponent of blind patriotism and I think nationalism is dangerous, but to ban all flags from a specific place is rather pointless. I understand the "inclusive space" argument, but I think this kind of measure isn't necessary for a space to be inclusive.

Was 9/11 an inside Job
It's possible although I doubt it. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't exploited as an excuse to invade Iraq and Afghanistan and further the surveillance state.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
This is highly problematic. If a cop tells you to do something that is a clear violation of your rights, there is no reason you should do it. It happens all the time.

Spanking in Europe and France
Sorry, I can see how that was confusing, those were supposed to be two separate points. My point in regards to "correlation not causation" is that just because the practice has been around forever doesn't necessarily make it effective or in the moral right.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
I disagree but that's a discussion for another thread. On topic, I just thought of a question I'd like to hear your guys' input on. What effect, if any, will this man's being homeless have on public reaction to the events? I could see it going either way. People will use it as a chance to discuss the criminalization of homeless. At the same time, he doesn't have the background story that got so many people wrapped up in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases.

Spanking in Europe and France
Correlation, not causation. And just because people have been physically disciplining children for centuries doesn't mean it is effective. If anything, this argument works against you. It can be used to argue for so many things we now condemn (slavery, racism, sexism, etc). I know I'm making a rather small matter into a much larger one, I just have some serious doubts about the practice.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
It's a figure of speech. I assumed it was common knowledge.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
Military and police are two different animals and should be discussed accordingly. If you'd like to explain how my comment was a "blunt, retarded insult," PM me. Don't need someone derailing the thread as par for the course.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can see around 5:22 and 5:28 where the homeless man goes for the black officer's gun.

Spanking in Europe and France
I don't think hitting is a good method of discipline. It uses fear instead of education. "Don't do something because you'll get hit" is nowhere near as effective to me as the child learning why what they did is wrong, while being punished in some other way. If done frequently and/or severely enough it can lead to future psychological issues. If an adult needs to use physical violence to discipline a child, the parent is the problem. I agree 100% with what LukeD said.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
I agree that it would be better for them to shoot him rather than he gets the gun and starts shooting, but to say it warrants a promotion is a little disturbing. To me, anyway.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
Apparently one of these officers was wearing one, hopefully the LAPD releases the footage soon and it can provide some insight.

Homeless man shot by LAPD
The guy shooting the video is a dumbass, and so are most of the people around him. I wish this video had been as clear as the Eric Garner one. This video doesn't definitely prove anything one way or another.

Hell, you don't even go to some parts during the day.

Chicago Police Black Sites
Another story about someone held at Homan Square is out. It may not prove anything directly, but it is another person making claims similar to the first story. https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/02/26/exclusive-chicago-black-site-detainee-speaks/

Hopefully they find the people who did this.

FCC Passes Controversial Net Neutrality Rules
Comparing upload and download speeds and speeds between different sites are two different conversations. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with fast lanes, however, the potential for abuse by an ISP is massive. Let's say Comcast looks favorably upon sites A, B, and C. Let's also say Comcast looks unfavorable upon sites X, Y, and Z. How it is it fair to sites X, Y, and Z if their service is throttled by Comcast while sites A, B, and C get premium bandwidth access? Such behavior is strongly anti-competitive and introduces the problem of ISPs attempting to influence consumer behavior, which I find highly problematic and no different than a government prohibition on visiting a specific site.

Chicago Police Black Sites
Again, you've made completely fair points. I suppose now it'll be a matter of waiting for new information.
-
Chicago Police Black Sites
That's fair, you're correct. I completely understand that they can ask you for the kind of information you've listed without reading you your rights. That should be obvious to anyone. However, in this specific case, I highly doubt that over the course of 17 hours, the police didn't interrogate a man brought in on terrorism suspicions.

Maryland upsets Wisconsin and pulls off an awesome flash mob
http://dcinno.streetwise.co/2015/02/25/umd-upsets-wisconsin-flash-mob-video/ I couldn't make it to the game, the student tickets were gone pretty quick, but the flash mob they did was awesome!

I do like watching Cenk Uygar though. Not so much the rest of the Young Turks, but definitely him. I respect him and I think he's got integrity, he doesn't automatically tow the liberal or Democratic line.

Opinionated = biased. That doesn't make what he has to say valid or invalid, but his opinion was crystal clear in his reporting of the matter.
