A majority of volunteer departments get little to no compensation for the SACRIFICE they partake in day in, day out. While it may seem hostile for them to state they "will not put out fires on properties who do not pay the fee," it is quite within their right to state such a thing. 9/10 however, if a house was on fire and the only thing stopping them from putting it out was the unwillingness to pay the fee...9/10 I question the ability of the men to simply standby and let the house burn.. The VFD my father is a part of gets payed $15 a call. That is the only compensation they receive for their efforts. In the rural area that he lives in the only payed department is well over 30 minutes away in every direction. I have never once heard them refusing to put out a fire because of a failure to pay a fee, sounds ridiculous to me, but as I have said payed firemen receive a pretty well off compensation for the sacrifice they take daily, while volunteers do it without. (Did not read the article, just wanted to share my thoughts on things playing out in the thread)

I've been looking for a way to create a signature banner, sadly my lack of creativity and lack of ability to find sufficient "online banner creators" has left me with no banner. I figure, why not come to one of the most creative communities around and find someone who is capable of making me an awesome signature. A few stipulations: 1. No profanity 2. Do NOT put Scarecrow anywhere on it. 3. Must include text, can include pictures, flash, so on 4. Must be hyperlinked to baysideves.com 5. Must support the theme of Dispatching/First Responder/Public Safety. 6. Multiple entries per contestant are acceptable. 7. No watermarks, creator name in signature banner. I am bayside's Public Safety Dispatch Administrator, and would love the banner to support public safety and dispatching. I would use this banner on here (lcpdfr) as well as our group site, and other websites dedicated to like modding/communities. I can not offer monetary reward for completion of said banner, but I will gladly place the creators name in all my signature bars upon their request and farther support their creativity as a sort of roaming advertising. I know this may sound lame, and what not, but I figure in a place full of creative individuals it should be worthwhile just to see what comes of it. Thank y'all in advance.
