I personally run 1.0.7.0 with LCPD:FR, ELS v7, plenty of other useful scripts etc. and decided to try icelaglace's iCEnhancer 2.1 with the configuration tool also from his website. Turn on Depth Of Field (but lower blur to about 0.2-0.3), decrease saturation, increase color contrast, adjust bloom to your liking, and force either FXAA or SMAA. Looks incredible and runs smoothly. The only crashes I've had have all been hardware freezes because of a faulty motherboard (power surges like a mo----fu----- ). I suggest you do a fresh install of IV, patch to 1.0.7.0, play a bit to ensure it's not your installation that's causing the crashing, then try adding iCE 2.1 w/ the config tool. Just my two cents
