"I'm sorry, buddy."

A Police Dog Handler with Lakeview County Police takes aim at a deer who was struck by a vehicle, and left suffering on the side of the road.

Lakeview County Fish and Wildlife authorized the police to terminate the deer, as they were still a while away from the scene, and the deer was not believed to be able to be saved.

It's believed the deer spent at least an hour on the side of the road with numerous injuries.

"If you hit wildlife, stop and call us." says Conservation Officer Ken Vinesh.

"There's no repercussion for striking wildlife. At least if it's out of your control."

"To leave an animal to suffer for an extended period of time is nothing short of cruel. The sooner we can euthanize the animal, the better. It's sad, but they shouldn't have to suffer."
