Rockstar Launcher Tries to download 9.94MB file for GTAV, but...

Featured Replies

All of the sudden, on Friday or Saturday this past weekend, I went to open rage and the launcher started as usual, but it kept wanting to download a 9.94mb update or file for GTAV.  Every time it tries to start downloading it, it immediately fails with zero progress.  You can click Retry, which yields the same result, or just quit.   I tried to get in with a launcher bypass, which works fine to play normal single player mode, but Rage will not hook into it.  I've tried all the possible times when to start Rage, and every time I get the slow systems error.   I cant find anywhere on Rockstar's site or any site for that matter with this problem.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher - immediately just back to same download.

I verified the game file integrity through launcher.

Antivirus turned off

I don't know what to do - I really don't want to reinstall, as I don't see it changing anything.  Picture of what it looks like  attached.

Please and thank you for any assistance.

Hello,

Have you tried launching GTA 5 normally and once it asks you if you want to play Single Player or Multiplayer, tab out and launch RPH?

Thanks! 🙂

So you typically don't have to download the Rockstar version if you own the STEAM version, with the new launcher it will attempt to re-download the game from Rockstar's new launcher. HOWEVER, if you have the Steam version already installed, you can force the Rockstar launcher to detect your existing game version.

On the Rockstar launcher, click 'Settings' on the upper right of the windows - just to the left the white "R".

From there, look for the bottom of the General settings and you should see "Scan PC for Supported Installs". This should immediately scan for .exe files for GTA V and should let it detect you've already installed GTA V. Note, that even mine still asks to download GTA V, even though I play it from Steam all the time - I just have to open the Launcher as well as RPH to let it cooperate. Let me know if this helped any!
