July 29, 201213 yr hey guys. i brought gta 4 for the pc because i want to play lcpdfr so bad man. it looks really really awesome. especially because i work for GSP. anyway, i installed the game and everything else (had the 4 green check marks). when i start the game, its like all my settings are locked and i can't change them. the ratio is stuck on 800x640 or something like that and i cant change any settings. when i start the game, i see that i can go on duty because i press alt+p and it says duty forced so i know thats working. the problem starts when i pause the game and everything but cars and lights disappear. i ran a diagnostics and this is the report. also, before that, i couldnt get the game to start because i was getting the EFCreate error with the dsound file.i put the folder as non read only and ran as admin and that fixed that. but i cant fix the world disappearing for the life of me. any help will greatly greatly be appreciated because i really want to play lcpdfr. thanks guys. July 29, 201213 yr Okay, I know how to fix the 'stuck settings' issue. You'll need to make a text file called 'commandline'. Open Notepad, and copy this into the file: -norestrictions When that's in the Notepad, save it as 'commandline.txt'. Go to where your GTA 4 folder is located. C:Program FilesRockstar GamesGrand Theft Auto IV For me. Place the 'commandline.txt' that you have just made into the 'Grand Theft Auto IV' folder. July 29, 201213 yr Okay, this guide should really help you out with the textures disappearing. http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f15/gta4-tweak-guide-easiest-way-tweak-gta4-pc-195548/ That guide is full of tips for the commandline.txt which can help improve performance. :)
July 29, 201213 yr Author aight i'll try this later and let you know if it worked. man you guys are the best. thanks so much. once i get this running fine, i think i'll be able to figure out where to get the charger the police use today and put the GSP skin on it.
July 29, 201213 yr Author aight its slowly coming together. when i look at my graphics card specs, i can see where it says i have 1.6 gb of memory. after setting the availablevidmem in the txt file to 4.0 and setting the percentvidmem to 100, the most it lets me resource is 239 mb.
July 29, 201213 yr Okay, change the -availablevidmem to 1.1 and see if that helps a bit. That worked for me.
July 29, 201213 yr Author when i changed it to 1.1 it went to 65 MB. smh @ my vcard not wanting to cooperate.i ramped it up to 10.0 and it let me resource 559 MB. i'm going ramp it up more until it gives me at least 1 GB. after this is done, i'll be on my way to getting current charger models with GSP skin. i cant wait.
