Correction of GTA5 audio file name

Featured Replies

It seems that most of the audio files name have been changed by Rockstar.

"Before is: 0x0A49A8A3..., and now is: CHASE_VEHICLE..."

These new audio names are more detailed than before, the audio content can be seen from the audio name. But it also changes the original location, this caused a lot of audio-related resources to be misplaced or the previous audio name could not be found.

Like you want to replace a siren audio, although you get the audio file, but it is oac file, which means you need to synthesize it yourself, but the original audio file name is different from the current one, so if you don't know the current audio file name, you unable to replace it.

The audio file name appears to have been modified since version 1.0.1604.0

▲This is a few siren audio files that I know so far▲

Before audio name: 0x0D329446                               >       Now: SIREN_PA20A_WAIL

Before audio name: 0x0EA58C7C                              >       Now: AIRHORN_EQD

Before audio name: AMBULANCE_WARNING      >       Now: AMBULANCE_WARNING

Before audio name: POLICE_WARNING                 >       Now: POLICE_WARNING

Before audio name: SIREN_2                                       >       Now: SIREN_2

▲And these are the audio files of several other siren types now, but I forgot the previous name▲

SIREN_WAIL_01

SIREN_WAIL_02

SIREN_WAIL_03

SIREN_WAIL_04

SIREN_FIRETRUCK_QUICK_01

I think whatever tool you are using to view the files got an update to their internal hash translation table instead of R* renaming files. You could try to bruteforce other names as well with the information you have gathered.

However, the main problem at the moment is that the audio file names produced by almost all authors are the previous file names. If it is not clear whether the previous file name corresponds to the current file name, it may not be valid even if it is placed. It doesn't really matter how the file name is modified.

I mean if that is your main issue, just extract all known names, hash them and then compare the hash to the files provided by authors. Note that the audio hash is 28 bit instead of 32 bit as you can see in the most significant 4 bits being zero in your hashes (SIREN_PA20A_WAIL is 0x6D329446 but 0x0D329446 for audio).
