I HAD this game on here, with the patch, wiith mods and all that fancy jazz, and it worked fine, until I did something retarded with the weapon files and caused it to crash. Then my laptop broke and the HD was replaced, so I lost all files. So, long story short, its been a long time since I played GTA IV. I reinstalled and it works fine, but thats as is, from the disk, without any updates. If I remember correctly many mods like LCPDFR require the 1.0.7.0 patch. So in preparation to begin modding the game again, I updated it with the 1.0.7.0 patch, and that removes the Rockstar Social club thngy, and changes the little login box. So when I click play, it acts like its gonna load, gives me the little spinning disk icon, I can hear my drive spinning up, then it stops. And nothing happens. It will not launch. I had it working a long time ago, but damned if I remember what I did. Any suggestions to get this game to actually launch, with this 1.0.7.0 patch?

go into your gta directory, click on GTAIV.exe and right click, hit run as admin, THIS WILL PRODUCE AN ERROR please tell us what the error says

Ok, before I do that, I'm instlling the patch now. Should I get rid of the social club? Its asking if I want to completely remove it and all of its features. Yes/no?

Alright, well I did as you said. Went to the said location, right-clicked, ran as admin, and got this:

"GTAIV.exe - Ordinal Not Found"

"The ordinal 5367 could not be located in the dynamic link library xlive.dll"

AHA! There seems to be no xlive or xliveless or whatever the hell its called in the GTAIV folder. Is that it? I seem to remember having something different though. And isnt xlive an ASI loader anyway? I dunno, like I said its been a LONG time, and Ive been modding Star Wars Battlefront, so Ive completely forgotten how to tinker with GTA lol

the most common error! Yes Xlive is an ASI loader, however! using Xlive/xliveless will disable online features, so at the cost of that are you still wanting to play gtaiv? lol some computers are like this even with the official patch from R*

you can install LCPDFR with Xliveless, but if you just want the file, its goggled under Xliveless

Alright, I got her working. Much appreciated man. BTW, what is the other crap I'll need to start modding? I forget. Some kinda windows framework thing and something else right? And of course SparkIV and OpenIV.

well .net framework4 full profile and c++ 2010 (x86) and yes sparkiv and or openiv

Those are both installers that are stand alone, so just DL and locate the file and install like a program

Now, Another most common error is the "access denied" error you can use the video in this thread to avoid most errors

Most mods should come with their own scripthooks and asi loader, but if you install LCPDFR it will install the latest script hooks, just uncheck dsound and check Xliveless and you'll be set for just having to drop the mod files in
