LSPDFR/RageHook don't work

Hey guys,

 

This will probably have more to do with my own stupidity rather than anything else but I've spent the past 12+ hours trying to get LSPDFR to work, to no avail. I'll try and outline what I've done in hopes of someone catching where I slipped up and helping me from there. Before anything, I want to state that I'm using the newest Steam version of the game.

 

I started installing LSPDFR yesterday, I already had ScriptHook installed as I was using some trainers to mess around in singleplayer. From there I installed LSPDFR and installed the newest version of RageHook over it, initially I had trouble getting RageHook to work (which is coincidentally where the crux of most of my issues seems to lie), I'd press F4 but I would not be greeted by the console, running in admin didn't help, nor did anything really. It's important to note that at this point LSPDFR was still loading fine, I could go to the police stations, I just didn't have access to all of RageHook's commands. After some messing around I got it to work. At this point I decided to install a few mods through OpenIV, I had the mods folder set up. I installed a few mods at once (I'll concede that was dumb of me, I should've gone one by one to figure out which one broke LSPDFR), including Skin Control, all EUP mods, and most importantly RDE. I also installed ScriptHookDotNet as I know it was required for RDE. At this point, after launching the game, F4 once again did nothing, and now LSPDFR didn't show up any more either. I did a clean install of GTA V, only to wake up and find out it hadn't installed about 25.6 gigs worth of data, prompting the game to greet me with a fatal error message. After verifying and redownloading those 25-odd gigs, I launched the game once again with LSPDFR and RageHook, using no other plugins or mods, just ScriptHook and the SNT. It's also worth noting I guess that I once again let LSPDFR download RageHook, and then downloaded the newest one of their site and replaced the files LSPDFR downloaded as those seem to be outdated.

 

This is where I am now; RageHook launches the game, throws me into the main menu, and doesn't do anything. I can load into the game but it's treated as though I'm just playing regular unmodded GTA V, that is to say, no LSPDFR on the map, and F4 does nothing. I've tried admin settings, I've tried binding the console to a different key, I've tried reinstalling both of them, and have now restored my GTA V folder to its original state and am verifying its integrity because the same error has once again greeted me. I have no clue what to do, I can not get the game to work for the life of me. Is there anyone on here who could help me out?

 

Edit: forgot to mention that prior to the first re-install, opening RDE's .exe file would hit me with an error message stating that it couldn't find my GTA V folder, implying that it was either outdated or illegal. My GTA V is installed on an external drive, but I have never had issues with other programs finding things on that drive, even placing RDE into the exact same folder as my GTA V executable would still lead it to give me the same message. I haven't tried to run it yet since I re-installed the game since I can't even get RageHook to run, but I have no idea what would be causing the error.

So, curiously enough, this seems to work, though in a very iffy manner. I've installed both LSPDFR and RageHook again, and it seems to work, though, when running RageHook, I have to alt-tab out of the game and run it a second time. This will invariably result in a screen stating it could not be hooked, however, the game proceeds to run as normal with all addons and plugins seemingly loading. I guess my newest questions are whether or not there is a way for me to make some form of backup of this seemingly (somewhat) stable version of the game, and whether there is any way for me to forego having to enable RageHook a second time? If I load into singleplayer after only opening the game once through RageHook, I crash to the desktop.

I suggest to install LSPDFR & RPH from clean install of GTA V. Otherwise, you will get a lot of headaches, because some trainers or some mods might cause some conflicts which is very hard to find.

 

If you start with a clean slate, it will be easier for us to troubleshoot.

Already did that, originally it actually made things worse before it made them better. It seems to work now. I have to alt-enter the game to go into windowed mode in order for Rage to initialize properly, but I also don't have to launch it twice. The game runs... mostly smoothly, I get the occasional crash but I guess that's to be expected. Now I'm just trying to figure out the keybdings for everything

When starting RPH did you click the settings wheel and check directx11 and force windowed mode?  I have mine set to load all plugins as well.

I did not actually have dX11 and windowed mode forced, but I'll probably end up doing that from now on, thanks for the tip!
