Adding more lods

Featured Replies

I am currently trying to change the LODS on my tires so they don't disappear. How do I go about doing this and getting my LODS up to L4?

Click on dismiss and then make copies of the wheel only, not the dummy. Once done then compound them. I would recommend up to L2. The more LODs means bigger file size which would cause a game crash.

How would I make copied of the wheel?

Start this vid at 1:47 and you learn how to compound objects.

So, I got my LODS in but they don't seem to make any difference at all and the wheels still disappear at a short distance

So, when you make the copies of the wheel you dismiss the compound from it, use the create copy button, copy it, than move them to the folder of what you copied, then compound it again, lock it, than choose the deserved LOD and than move the copies into the grey section? Am I doing it right?

No, from what i see there's no default. After you've decompounded the wheel and made copies,First make sure there are no L's selected under structure. Start by selecting the wheel dummy in the hierarchy and hit  convert to compound which will give you a default. Next hit the lock and then L0 and drag the wheel into the box under default. Then hit L1 and drag the next wheel into the box under L0 and repeat this process untill you have done all of your wheels and then hit the lock again and done.

By wheel do you mean copies? and what do you mean by dummies?

Okay, I don't even though if LODs work on this vehicle because defaultly it is up to L3 but, is still just as weak as when I set it as L3 on my other pair of tires.
