GTA V is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)

I need help, every time I try to use GTA V it is broken, a friend helped me get it working. I just found out gta v was installed in this file zone (not under the  / rockstar / GTA V folder).

When I move it to a folder, where it's meant to be, it starts redownloading in that spot. I've been searching around and haven't seen this anywhere. Recently my other issue was that when I download the game, it would just load, it would do an update but keeps saying you can click "cancel" and won't go on from there. Like I said, this was pass tense, now this is working, but I have installed mods in that directory and when I install them, I move them to the Rockstar Games folder then when finished doing stuff in OpenIV, I would put back in those spots and it will run and load fine. Now, I think I messed up some files now, I start the game and it just crashes. (I added the police pack and that was kinda weird, it says Sheriff 2 and then it said polic2.xml). But that's beside the point, it might be fine if I fix this install directory.

You can change GTA V's install folder, it's just a little bit complicated if you don't know what you're doing.

Since the game currently crashes, I would personally recommend (although it's not required) for you to make a backup of all modded files and re-download the game after completing the steps below.

Spoiler

1. Open the Windows Registry Editor

2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rockstar Games\grand theft auto v

3. Open the entry that's titled installFolder

4. Change it to the path of the folder you want to have it run from

5. Restart the computer

Let me know if you need additional guidance or if my instructions were unclear.
