Top 5 Police Forces in Video Games

Recommended Posts

This is just a personal opinion and I also wanna hear your discussion. I've been playing alot of video games on the wrong side of the law and I been wanting to share how well the police forces are in video games (mostly NFS). So just wanna share this out of curiosity of the top 5 police forces I think are awesome in video games (and you might be a bit surprised why I choose these games).

Note: Spoilers are ahead in some games.

So lets start off with #5:

#5 - Redview County Police Department (RCPD) in Need for Speed Rivals

I was debating on whether to choose the Seacrest County Police Dept (SCPD) in NFS Hot Pursuit or the RCPD in NFS Rivals. They both offer sports cars as their main fleet and they both brutally ram racers off the damn cliffs (because reasons). In the end I choose the RCPD as they are more freeroam and they have heat levels up to level 10. At max heat, you will be pursued by several high performance sports car with the highest level of pursuit techs and will utilize roadblock units with spikestrips and helicopter units. In rare cases you may be pursed by 2 helicopters. And they will most likely ram you to the point where your HP is down to 1 within 2 minutes. The drawback is they are wayyy too aggressive and pursue you for absolutely no retarded reason (due to the no pause button in game). Altho they are sorta helpful if your chasing someone online.

#4 - Liberty City Police Department in GTA IV

You might be asking "why in the holy mother of fucks did you not choose GTA V cops you retarded moron???". While GTA V's cops have improved in terms of AI (I mean LCPD cops are drunk as fuck), they have a higher chance of "shoot to kill" in players AND other AI's without LSPDFR (I mean its a fucking death penalty if an AI hits a cop car). In GTA IV as standalone game without LCPDFR, you can see LCPD doing traffic stops and arresting AI if they commit an actual crime. This interest of AI design is the other reason why GTA IV is on this list. The drawback is again the cops are fucking drunk in terms of driving (altho not as drunk as GTA IV's paramedic cough cough. Just don't die in Liberty City).

#3 - Multiple Police Forces in The Crew

The Crew's police forces was an interesting species in the world of games with cops. It has a total of 10 police departments (5 city and 5 "states" and not counting the FBI's racing unit doohickey from Calling All Units DLC), making this the most number of police forces in a video game within this list. Each department patrols within its jurisdiction and has its own unique livery. Standard fleet includes Ford CrownVictoria PI, 2012 Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and the Ford Raptor SVT. These cops are the most tolerable in the list compare to Need for Speed, resorting from box-in maneuvers to PIT maneuvers, roadblocks, and helicopters at higher heats (and not ram the shit out of ya like in NFS). Cops from one department may cross over jurisdiction if necessary to continue pursuing the player. Drawbacks tho is only 1-2 "types" of these standard units will pursue depending on what specs you have on your car (if your car is a street spec you will only be pursued by Chargers).

#2 - Fortune Valley Police Department in Need for Speed Payback

NFS Payback was meh... But the police in game were awesome. The FVPD patrols the city of Fortune Valley in NFS Payback. They are a huge improvement to the cops in NFS 2015 (which are way more blind and drunk than GTA IV's cops and paramedics altogether). Standard vehicles includes the Ford CrownVictoria, 2012 Dodge Charger, 2017 Corvette C7 Grand Sport, and a fucking Rhino SWAT Van. Like The Crew, these cops will coordinate together to box you in but will ram the shit out of ya if you don't take them out. To make things more complicated, the Chargers and Corvettes are fitted with EMP killswitches, which when hit, will shut your engine down for a few seconds, making you the easy prey for the cops. And to make things even more complicated, the Rhino SWAT vans will attempt to kamikaze you head-on at full speed. Whats really more complicated and incredibly hard, the FVPD has been considered the most corrupted police department within the NFS universe, having heavy ties to The House cartels just to take out the protagonists for almost no retarded reason and rig races in exchange for cash. The House are even seen teaming up with the FVPD in some events for fucks sake! So yea having a corrupted police force with SWAT vans and killswitches just to chase you down for... street racing. That will get you going against the cops! Drawbacks tho, while these are freeroam cops, they can only be triggered by checkpointed events, tho thats more of a NFS Payback game design thing...

#1 - Rockport Police Department in Need For Speed Most Wanted(2005)

If you know this game, then you know why this is on the list. One of the main reasons why NFSMW 2005 became an awesome racing game in the first place is the dynamic pursuit system. After NFS Underground series, the cops made a brilliant comeback featuring the cops as one of the main antagonists. In NFSMW 2005, you have to beat the top 10 most wanted street racers in the Blacklist while going against the Rockport PD. Standard units includes Civic cruisers (patrol and UC), Ponitac GTO as State Cruiser (patrol and UC), Chevrolet Corvette C6 (SRU and UC), light and heavy Rhinos, and a police helicopter. As a first NFS with this dynamic, the Rockport PD will perform box-in maneuvers, PIT maneuvers, roadblocks, spikestrips, and that kamikaze thing again with the Rhino SUVs. Reach higher heats and you'll face Sergeant Douchebag- I mean Cross and his Street Racing Unit of a shitton Police Corvettes. I mean jee its just one street racer and your gonna send in a dozens or more Corvettes just for one guy. Good luck wrecking those bastards!
