ESL SIREN

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Since R* updated the sfx files and siren names are different. Can we just download the siren pack files and rename them to whatever R* has them named to?

I tried that and police sirens don't work.

I don't think it will work for ELS because ELS thinks each siren is still its old name. It would require Caine to go back and change something, but I imagine it would be just a quick swap.

When did they change the names? I haven't played in a little while.

I'm not sure when R* changed the names. It's got bunch of SIRENS_WAIL, SIRENS_1,2,3,4,  and SIREN_PA20A_WAIL

That's odd. I had a look and it looks to me like we can really benefit off of the new variety of sirens, so hopefully Caine gets time to update ELS soon. What's really interesting to me, though, is that Rockstar used real items in the new sounds. Not only is the PA20 a real siren, but two sound files share the prefix "Honda".

Yeah I was like why aren't my sirens working lol. I did try to rename the sirens from United States Sirens Pack to the new ones R* uses and sounds doesn't work. Hopefully Caine updates it, unless he doesn't know about it since people aren't complaining?

My OpenIV just broke so I can't check right now, but are all of the original audio files still present with their original names? Have you tried using the files without changing their names (using Rockstar original names)?

I made a copy of the stock sirens so I can go back to it. Hmmmm...I’ll have to try that and see. I know that the 0x0EA something file is gone in the new sirens rockstar uses

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who is having this issue. Guess I will try getting it to work with Siren Mastery until something works out here!

Edit: So I've figured a few things out, to help others. For the moment, you can install SirenMastery to cover your sirens. Go into your ELS VCF's and make sure everything in the SOUNDS section is set to AllowUse "false".

In your generalconfig for SirenMastery make sure the options related to ELS vehicles is set to false as well (the name string is escaping me). All of the sirens have been renamed by R* in resident.rpf. You can add up to 10 tones (9 sirens plus air horn).

Here are all the new siren names:

AIRHORN_EQD

SIREN_PA20A_WAIL

SIREN_2

POLICE_WARNING

SIREN_WAIL_01

SIREN_WAIL_02

SIREN_WAIL_03

SIREN_WAIL_04

SIREN_QUICK_01

SIREN_QUICK_02

SIREN_QUICK_03

SIREN_QUICK_04

AMBULANCE_WARNING

(All .wav files)

Find the siren you want and rename the hash to one of these. Note...there are more sirens than these, such as some miscellaneous fire ones. I may post them eventually if no one else does first.

Once they’re all ready, use OpenIV to export your vehicles.awc to <gamefolder>/plugins/SirenMastery. Don’t bother putting anything in the CustomSirens directory, it won’t work. Place your edited wav files into the vehicles folder that OpenIV exported into SirenMastery. Edit your keybindings as necessary and load the plugin when you’re in game 🙂 feel free to message me if you have a specific issue. Good luck!

So I did not use siren mastery, but renamed sirens to fit new ones, once in game there's no siren sound at all.
