how do i import a skin onto a vanilla car? i downloaded a template for the firetruck but after i created it (it looks awesome btw) i cannot seem to import it into the files, all i see are " badges, decals, details, lights glass, and their specs!" how do i import the skin i created? please help me!

Are you sure it's for the default firetruck? Are you sure it isn't for a custom one? Or at least a uv-mapped version of the vanilla one?

Some of the default cars have some decals that you can change but in terms of a full template like you see on all the custom chargers/cvpis/impalas etc. none of the default cars are equipped with that sort of thing. They need to be UV-mapped.

It requires zmodeler 2, which costs money, a fair amount of patience and care.

Where exactly did you get the template from? Just install the firetruck that it's supposed to be for.

I wish it was that simple for the default cars, but sadly it isn't.

Any default car you work on will need a template mapped to it. Which takes ages.

As for the originally mapped cars by Rockstar, its terrible. For instance, have a look at the LCPD one:

Due to the fact R* decided it'd be a fantastic idea to map each part to multiple parts of the car, if you want to change it without re-doing the mapping, you have to work within the small constraint's of the original, going over these lines even slightly will result in the design screwing up.

i actually found a non els version of the E229 that is exactly the same as the vanilla car, thank you guys for your responses on trying to help me, much appreciated

btw: does anyone know where i could find a non ELS version of the ambulance for download?, i want to make one of it but i need to find a non ELS version of the vanilla ambulance, kinda like the E229 and other boroughs of the firetruck there is floating around the net
