Vehicle Skins

Featured Replies

Some of the vehicle mods I have downloaded have different skins in the pictures (such as LCPD or NYPD,) and the default is LCPD & FDLC, how do I change that over to being NYPD & and whatever skins they have?

FOR EXAMPLE WITH AMBULANCES:

Standard FDLC Ambulance:

LCMR Skin for the above ambulance:

LifeLine EMS skin:

They might have those other skins as liveries so if that's the case you need to open vehicles.ide and add +livery to the end of the vehicle line.

The vehicles.ide file is inside grand theft auto iv/common/data

and this is what I mean by adding +livery to the end of the line (for the police car)

police, police, car, POLICE, POLICE, VEH@STD, VEH@STD_RI1, 100, 999, 0.2345, 0.2345, 0.2, 2, 1.0 ,1, ext_requi+ext_strong+livery

Doing this will make the vehicle spawn randomly with the different textures (liveries) or in specific locations if you use Sam's Area Livery Mod.

Alternatively, if the livery you want it to spawn with (say NYPD) is the one you want it to have all the time, you will have to use sparkiv or open IV to open up the vehicle.wtd (texture file) the same sort of way you added the vehicle in the first place, find the NYPD livery in the list of texture layers on the side (maybe it's called ambulance_sign_3 for example), save it/extract it and then find the primary livery (called [vehiclename]_sign_1 like ambulance_sign_1) and then replace it with the one you extracted earlier so that it overwrites it.

What program do I open the vehicles.ide file with? SparkIV wont let me add the "+livery".

Just open notepad and paste vehicles.ide into it. If it says that file is read only, go to properties and uncheck Read-only.

Thanks!

So it should look like this for the ambulance? "

ambulance, ambulance, car, AMBULANCE, AMBULAN, VEH@VAN, NULL, 100, 999, 0.2406, 0.2406, 0, 2, 1.5 ,1, noboot+isvan+truckfirefx+ext_strong+livery

Correct?

Yeah that seems correct as long as the original formatting (tabs) is intact.

I dont know what that is.... although, when i played GTA with the +livery, the trainer & LCPDFR did not work. so i removed +livery & it did not spawn the texture that i changed... unless i changed them wrong?

i put ambulance_sign_2 as ambulance_sign_1

Adding +livery to the line should not effect the ability of LCPDFR or any other mod you have to run.

Look at the vehicle when you are ingame and remember what texture it has, then when you go into the .wtd in sparkIV/Open IV make sure you replace that texture you remember seeing ingame with the one you want to see. Then make sure you hit save before you close sparkiv or openiv.
