LSPDFR not launching

The process I now recommend is to gather some diagnostic information that may be of interest.

Please download Microsoft's Process Monitor from here. Unzip it and launch procmon.exe as administrator.

When it opens, you'll be asked for details on what you want to filter. Configure exactly as follows and click Add, then OK.

Now launch RagePluginHook.exe as normal. Hopefully, it will continue to open, then it will quit as it was doing before.

Once it has quit, click the magnifying glass icon to stop capturing events.

Save the capture as a Process Monitor Log (.PML) file.

This is an interesting case of an RPH issue which I have not seen before. Because this log file may contain personal information, on this occasion you may PM it to me if you'd like me to try and analyze it. (Normally I am not able to give support via PM.)

As you might guess, I make PeterUCallouts. I love working to bring LSPDFR players the kind of callouts that strike a good balance between realism and fun and are stable & varied!

Unfortunately I cannot offer support via PM -- please use the forums, so that others may benefit from your solutions!

No problem. And yeah, I can play GTA normally when I launch it through Steam. I've tried that solution before, but it didn't work.

I've sent you a PM with the .pml file.

I have compared the trace you provided in PM to a similar trace when I launch RagePluginHook.

It appears that RPH is not detecting that you have read the disclaimer that appears on first launch, thus is not even getting far enough to attempt to launch GTA.

This itself isn't the problem, but it implies that there is a problem with RPH being able to render its screens at all, before it even starts trying to launch the game or anything.

There are a few possibilities I am seeing from the trace:

  • Could you disable RivaTuner or the MSI AfterBurner software if this is installed and try again?
  • Could you disable NVIDIA ShadowPlay if this is running and try again?

The final line of the trace shows that a Windows Error report was attempted to be saved. Could you open Event Viewer from Start > Windows Administrative Tools. Look under Windows Logs > Application and click Find on the right. Search for RagePluginHook for any entries that may give us further details.

As you might guess, I make PeterUCallouts. I love working to bring LSPDFR players the kind of callouts that strike a good balance between realism and fun and are stable & varied!

I managed to launch Rage normally after disabling those apps you mentioned. But now I've got another issue: when launching the game via the Rage launcher, it says that GTAVLauncher.exe exited unexpectedly, and thus it just goes into GTA without Rage. How can I solve this ?

Ive had a similar issue. Except rage will crash and then say gta v closed unexpectedly. I have found when I go offline it will load still. And I can run lspdfr pretty dang good. Online (not GTA online) but connected to internet (cable or WiFi) it lags a bit and then an hour I’ll get an error message. Like steam shuts down and reconnects. It’s weird.

If you know what else you did that may have helped fix it, please do post it here so others with a similar issue can try it and perhaps fix their installs too!

After disabling MSI Afterburner I did a clean install of the game, and then I installed the newest versions of LSPDFR and Rage. That was the solution for me.
