RDE - whenever I edit hwaycar2 or vehicles.meta, I get corrupted game data

Featured Replies

Hey all - having a pretty frustrating issue here.  I've been modding for quite a while, but all of a sudden when I try to change some cars in RDE, I'm getting corrupt game data.  Also happens when I try to change just one handling line in vehicles.meta.  Here's the kicker:  even if I replace the file with the original, game data is still corrupted, and I have to go back to a stock update.rpf, reinstall RDE, LSPDR, EUP, and everything else every time.  Any idea what could be causing this?

Many thanks!

Had the same issues for a couple months, I thought RDE 3.1.1 would fix it but it didn't so here's what I did:
I installed this:

Then you can copy and paste the vehicle.meta of hwaycar2 from the rde pack to the one in this dlcpack. Don't forget to delete the everything you're adding into the new dlcpack from rde otherwise it won't load properly.

Do the same thing with every model you wish to change and you won't have this problem again.  They still spawn like they're supposed to in the world, don't worry about that.

Also, I noticed that installing RDE first then all my other mods, it would give me ERR_FILL_PACK_3 (or even corrupted data like you) on startup so even if they suggest installing rde in a clean folder, maybe do it last? And after you're done modding your game, do a backup of your mod folder so you just have to restore your working mod folder instead of manually reinstalling everything next time your game gets corrupted.

Man HZ, I can't possibly thank you enough - surely this is exactly what I'm looking for!!  This really makes sense - I think Bxbugs123 always does his cars like this when they install.

So basically I delete all my hwaycar2 files from the regular rdevehicles.rpf and instead put them in the other location in the MODDING folder?

Final question - I see this in the readme:

"Vehicles.meta MUST be edited in the default vehicles.meta for existing cars as normal: Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\vehicles.meta The game will not check this DLC's vehicles.meta for vehicles that are in the game by default. "

So something like hwaycar2 - is that considered "in the game by default"?  I'm guessing no since I think it's only in RDE and not vanilla...

Again, thank you SO much!!!!

Yep, exactly!

No, it's not in the game by default because if you open the vehicles.meta in "\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\" and then Ctrl+F "hwaycar2" you won't find it.

Spoiler

It would be: -police -policet -police2 -police3 -police4 -policeold -policeold2 -riot -policeb -polmav -sheriff -sheriff2 -fbi -fbi2 -ambulance -firetruk

I wasn't able to play GTA for a couple months because of this exact problem and I literally discovered the solution the same day you posted this so you are more than welcome, I'm glad I could help!

Man, I can't thank you enough for helping me out.  Issues like this are the nature of the LSPDFR beast, but kindness like yours keeps us rolling!  Thanks again, HZ!

  • 2 months later...

Sorry for getting this topic back up. But I'm trying exactly the same as you, replacing some vehicles inside the RDE-package.

But as soon as I install the "Modding DLC Pack" my game crashes during startup with the error ERR_FILL_PACK 1.

It doesn't matter whether I install RDE or the Modding Pack first. Any ideas?
