Brake Lights Not Turning Off

Featured Replies

Hey all!

Having a little issue with my brake lights.  They don't seem to shut off whether I am driving or not anymore ever since the installation of CalloutManager, Better EMS & PeterU Callouts. Was fine before I installed them, however I did them all one after another, so I am unsure as to if its one making it do this etc..  My list of total installed plugins are;

LSPDFR+
Traffic Policer
Arrest Manager
ELS
LCPDFR Computer+
Assorted Callouts
Callout Manager
Better EMS

PeterUCallouts

Thanks in advance!

To my immediate knowledge, none of those should affect your tail lights, except ELS, of course.

Double check the .INIs of PeterUCallouts and see if it has anything about it.  Are you using Basic Vehicle Actions, or Brakelight+?

Nope,

Only things installed are what I listed.  What would I be searching for in PeterU's ini? Brake lights were all fine before I installed those last 3 the other day.  Is there anything I should check for in ELS?

Nope.  ELS only adds the rear emergency lighting, it doesn't touch brake lights.  You'd just look in the INIs to see if it says anything about brake light.  Please check the INIs for all three mods, if you can't find anything, please attach the INIs for BetterEMS and PeterU, and I'll have a look for you.

I saw nothing in the .ini files. Seems to be only at night time when the lights are on.  Maybe i am just stupid lol but they seem very bright to me. Let me know, thanks again!

Not to be rude, but are you sure the lights just aren't part of night time's headlight/tail lights?  During the night the headlights and tail lights are supposed to turn on.  When you press the brake, the brake lights should become more prominent to notice the difference.

If you press H two times, do the tail lights turn off?

lol no worries! Yeah, they all shut off.  Maybe its just meant to be that bright.  When i do hit the brakes it does change, however i wouldn't call it prominent compared to what you see in the screenshot.  The center brake light light in the window does come on to show i am hitting the brakes.  Maybe it's just me and they seem brighter than your typical taillight without brakes being applied, we can just file this under the "doh!":pinch: category lol!  However...on a different topic, with the day being at 6000.00 and night being 1500.00, if you apply a snow weather and obviously all "whites" such as taxi light etc etc reflect so bright (mainly snow weather)...any way to get rid of that to make it more "playable" so to speak or is that just how its gonna be with the visualsettings.dat set to those parameters?

I think your brake lights are working perfectly.  Unfortunately, there's not a difference between brake light brightness and light bar brightness, to my immediate knowledge, anyway.

For the taxi brightness issue, click "edit mode" in OpenIV and open the Taxi.ytd.  Look for the Taxi_Signs image.  Replace that with the attached image.

Awesome! I'll do that later on, how about the outrageous brightness when snowy weather is applied? No go due to the high lighting level? Again, I thank you for your help!

Unfortunately, I don't have or know of a fix for the snow issue. :(  You're welcome.

Hey, sorry to bother you again...one more quick question. Any idea as to why when I use any of the cars in this this pack, when I press "J" once, it automatically goes to Stage 3 lighting?  What would I look for and what to edit? Sorry to be a pain!

You're not a pain, don't worry.  In your main GTA V directory go to ELS \ pack_default.  Now open the VCFs that are named of these cars. Once it's open, at the top you'll see light stage activation type.  It should be set to "auto".  You'll want to change it to "manual". Now you'll go through the different light stages. Do note, you need to do this for all the vehicles you want it on.

You sir, are a legend! Thanks! I might need a few more pointers when adding cars  to the slots of the snow sheriff spots, and unmarked CVPI, cause all I have in my vehicles.rpf in my patchday15 is police/1/2/3 etc and sheriff/1. What slots would the additional cars fall under?

You're welcome. :)  POLICE4, FBI, and FBI2 can also go in patchday15.  The snow cars I don't know, as I've never edited those.  I'll have a look through OIV for you.

[Edit]  @budfroggy  The snow cars should be located in x64e.  However, you might be able to get away with putting them in the latest patchday.  If that doesn't work, just copy over x64e to your mods folder.

Ok, great! Now, if the model I D/L is called police2 for example, I would just rename all corresponding files to police4 or fbi2 or fbi. Correct?

Yep!  Do note, however, for FBI2, you if you chose to use a Crown Victoria in the FBI2 slot, you'd need to change the handling id in the vehicles.meta, otherwise the vehicle's handling will be wonky.

Appreciate that this is an old post but just wanted to say a massive thank you to @Reddington for the above info. I use the same BCSO pack and always wondered why the lights went straight to stage three. Thank you for sharing your insight.
