Granger/Sheriff Granger/FIB Granger causing crash

Having a problem with GTA V, specifically the Granger and it's variants: sheriff2 and fbi2 (pranger isn't included because I'm using a Ford F-150 model for it, which works perfectly fine)

I can get all 3 versions of the Granger to spawn, but pressing F within range of them instantly crashes the game. Climbing up on top of the car causes a crash. Finding a Granger spawned in by the game, not by the trainer, and trying to do these 2 things also crashes the game.

When spawned by the game, none of the Grangers (civilian, Sheriff, or FIB) have any visibile drivers despite driving along the road. When shooting at the civilian Granger it will swerve once or twice, but does not flee like other civilian cars. The Sheriff and FIB Grangers will also not act as Police vehicles, and shooting at them does not cause them to start chasing me or even give me a wanted level. When I have a wanted level, none of the responding Police vehicles include the Sheriff or FIB Grangers at 3 or 4 stars (I'm using Fine-Tuned Felony and Response with no problems).

It should be noted that I did mod every variant of the Granger into a a new vehicle. The civilian Granger became a 2016 Tahoe, and the Sheriff & FIB Grangers both became 2013 Tahoe's (marked and unmarked), but the models themselves are not the cause of the crash (I think).

Here's what I've tried:

Spawning and trying to enter all 3 vehicles while modded, with modded vehicles.meta and handling.meta = Crash

Spawning and trying to enter all 3 vehicles while modded, with vanilla vehicles.meta and handling.meta = Crash

Spawning and trying to enter all 3 vehicles while vanilla, with vanilla vehicles.meta and handling.meta = Crash

Finding already-spawned Grangers (both modded and vanilla) and trying to enter = Crash

The files "granger" and "fbi2" in both x64e.rpf and patchday2ng have all been reverted to vanilla from my untouched game files outside of the mods folder, and "sheriff2" has been reverted to vanilla in x64e.rpf from the untouched vanilla x64e.rpf.

Could this be a problem with carvariations.meta? Used OpenIV to search for every single carvariations.meta, and looked through every single one for "granger", "sheriff2" and "fbi2" and got nothing. I have no idea, exhausted all the things I can think to do.

Anyone have any ideas?

Log included.

***Edit*** I'm having the same problem with the Sentinel (sentinel2) which was previously modded to be a Hyundai Genesis Coupe but has since been reverted back to vanilla

The vanilla carvariations are hard-coded into the game.  You'd need to extract the carvariations from a DLC and add in new lines. Unless you did that, it wouldn't matter.  Since you did add back in the vanilla files and still crash, it may come down to you having to redo your mods folder..  You must of accidentally did something without realizing it.  There's no reason at all it should be crashing just because you have three Grangers modded.

Please attach your vehicles.meta to your next reply.  Also include everything you have edited vehicles related.

Got 120 mods so far, a lot of which are vehicles, but only having trouble with the Sentinel and Granger's so far. Narrowed the problem down to something in the 10 subfolders of 'mods > update > update.rpf > common > data'.

I deleted the 3 "Data" files from the 'common > data' after backing them up in a temp file. Then moved in the 2 vanilla Data files from the vanilla 'common > data' folder and started the game. Crash was still there so I deleted the 2 vanilla from the modded folder and moved the modded files back in in their place.

Repeated this for the .meta and .xml files separately and no fix. It's also nothing to do with the vehicles.meta, as this has also been replaced with the vanilla version (although I forgot to backup the modded version, ouch) and didn't fix it.

Going to move on to the 10 subfolders when I get up tomorrow and report back.

You said you deleted 3 data files, but only backed up 2 of the vanilla files.  So where's the third?

There were 3 data files in the modded data folder, but only 2 in the vanilla folder. I backed up the 3 modded ones, moved the 2 vanilla in and ran the game and the crash was still there. Deleted the vanilla ones and moved the modded back in. The 3rd one must be added by one of my mods.

Lets confirm if this is actually something mod related.  Rename your mods folder to something else.  Try playing and getting in the Grangers.  Does it let you?

Already done, and it works. I've narrowed the problem down to one of the Meta XML files in the ai folder (update.rpf > common > data > ai). I replaced these Metas with the vanilla ones and ran the game, the problem with the Grangers and Sentinels disappeared. Moved the modded ones back in and just about to go through each one individually and try them.

I'm glad you got it figured out.  Let me know if another issue arises. :)

Still gotta find which Meta it is and see if removing/replacing it would cause problems with it's parent mod. Thanks anyway :)

If you have issues finding the problem in the meta, please do attach it here and I'll look it over.

Turns out it was the vehiclelayouts.meta. Using the vanilla version of this meta I can enter all Granger variants and the Sentinel. Attached it for you.

Unfortunately, I can't help with that, lol.  I've only messed with the vehicles.meta.  The layouts.meta is not something I know much about.  The only thing I can suggest is to put the vanilla and modded vehiclelayouts side by side and try to see what may be different.  Since it's only crashing when trying to use those vehicles, it could be something as simple as a forgotten character.

Eh it's no big deal, I'll just use the vanilla one which is around 40kb larger, so something critical must be missing from it. If I do encounter some problem later (which I doubt) I'll do as you suggest.

Many thanks for the help.

What is the directory for this file?

Well I replaced the vehiclelayouts.meta file in mods/update.rpf /common/data/ai but I still can't get in or near a Granger without the game crashing. Any other ideas?

I fixed it but I'm not sure how. I replaced the vehiclelayouts.meta file in both locations in the mods folder and now I can get in the Granger vehicles.
