I have a GTX 970, i5 4590 and 16GB Ram. With GTA 5 and visual V with my settings on a mixture of very high and high settings, I get 60-80fps and 90fps in the countryside/low pop areas.

When I go on duty this changes and I get a normal range of 40-50fps with 30fps drops in the city during pursuits with backup units.

I have always had this performance drop with LSPDFR since I first played. This has been like this over several different installs and sets of mods. I am not that annoyed by it as I understand that scripts can cause performance issues.

I know I dont have the highest specs but for 1080p gaming this is plenty for now (newer AAA games are starting to list 970 as a recommended or minimum).

I will be following this thread to try out suggestions you get but I personally think its script performance related rather then "bugs" or our hardware.

Read the Readme's and mod pages, don't be stupid.

I agree, hopefully we can get some better fps!
