ELS with non-player controlled cars

Featured Replies

Hi, apologies if I've sent this to the wrong group. I've setup ELS 8.5 and have replaced Police and Police 2 with ELS supported vehicles. While everything works great for me as a single player, when a computer controlled police vehicles enables their siren, there are no lights (lightbar)... is this normal with the ELS system, or have I missed something? I'm just trying to create an experience where I may have multiple police vehicles pursuing a vehicle, and have them all using the ELS lighting .

Any assistance would be great.

Thanks,

C

You will need to enable the ELS on AI controlled vehicles in the .ini file (it's been a long time since i've played IV with ELS so i can't tell you what it's exactly called) but it clearly states ELS on AI vehicles so it shouldn't be hard to find the setting.

Thanks CouthInk4; yep, I found it and enabled it (I had read in a tutorial to disable it as it could cause crashes when loading). Muphy's law... changed the setting to on, fired up the game, and it crashes during the loading screen (when loading, post main screen). Do you know if a fix exists for this? Thanks again!

Nope, unfortunately GTA IV is a pile of useless garbage that shouldn't have existed on PC.. which is why it crashes over the most smallest thing. changing the amount of AI cars that use ELS could fix it.. changing it to 1-3 cars might work (no guarantee though)

Hi CouthInk4, ignore my last comment. I found a random youtube video that suggested I change the Compatibility of GTA4.exe to Windows Vista SP2 and "run as administrator", then run Launchgta4.exe as admin. Tested it and it seems to be working now...

I know what you mean re:useless garbage. The amount of times I've tried to get things working in the past and had it crash/remove txt/do-weird-crap is crazy...

Thanks again mate.
