Memory Error

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Recently I've been getting this crash/error : err_mem_embeddedalloc_guard_4  "Game memory error. Please reboot and restart the game."

This might have already been discussed here, but I have not been able to find any answered post anywhere...

I am using a few mods : L.A. Roads 2.0, VisualV and NaturalVision (ENB+Reshade). I also have all the emergency vehicles replaced, as well as 3 added police vehicles.

I'm guessing the crashes started happening after the MP stunt patch, because I have the same install as I have always been using to play LSPDFR with absolutely no problems, and all of a sudden this happens. I can play for around 3 to 5 minutes and it crashes. I have also tried to remove my mods, for example, keep the cars but remove LA roads (which takes a lot of memory), still the same. I've tried also removing several cars while I was at it, and it's also the same. I also use 4K textures on basically all of my cars, I also thought of removing those 4k textures as well, same thing. I've also tried removing the recent DLC.

Thinking it was a problem coming from windows 10 (I've been getting a lot of drivers errors etc...) I reverted to 7, with completely reformatting and reinstalling GTA V on a clean windows. And I'm getting the same problem.

Could it be a problem with the GPU drivers ? or even my RAM ? I just find it strange because this did not happen in the past. Note that this happens if I use the base game or RPH.

My pc specs just in case :

i7 2600K @3.40GHZ,

ASUS GTX970 4GB

8GB RAM

Thanks in advance for any reply.

I suggest you update your drivers for your asus GTX970. Try that and also what version of directX are you running in GTA V? Check by going to your GTA V graphics settings. If you are runnimg Version 11 try switching it to 10.

I managed to play for a good while (without RPH) and it turned out to work pretty good. I think my problem was a traffic density mod I was using...

But then I've been trying RPH and I ended up crashing with an out of memory error again, I'm starting to think that any crash my game encounters whether it is RPH or not just ends up showing as a memory error. So I've started experimenting with what you said, so I switched to DX10 and tried to downgrade my GPU drivers since I was already using the latest ones.

This  is really confusing and frustrating because it just started happening for no reason. I'll try to post the results as soon as I can though.

Maybe look at your errors log from the game LSPDFR, Or if it's the script that is making your game crash then contact the person that made it.

That error is due to a mod. You'll have to find out which mod is causing it.. Chances are it's your road mod or another mod that requires a lot of memory

Apparently the error was coming from the new drivers for my GPU , I just tried downgrading the drivers along with your suggestions, and I was able to play for a good amount of time with no crash. (even with all the mods enabled + RPH/LSPDFR)

Thanks a lot for your help it really helped me pinpoint the problem!
