Looked it up, apparently the one we use is a VE SS. I'm not a huge stickler for things being spot-on accurate though, so I'd be content driving that Evoke around too :D

VE's are old gen, so if ACT had VE SS's I'd bet my left nut they have VF SS's now

^ I actually saw an unmarked VE pull someone over a few weeks ago, I thought they were all gone but obviously not.

Getting a new mic tomorrow, so i'll be making videos again if I can be bothered.

Yeah they slowly get replaced every year or two, but obviously not all at once.
Still got VE's here in NSW.

My girlfriends uncle retired from the force not too long ago, he was telling me that they basically get the cars for free, so they have no problem buying new ones each year because they get their money back.
They buy the cars with absolutely no tax of any sort, may get some sort of minor discount for buying bulk but that's not clear, use it for a year or two and sell it for market value which is pretty much what they bought it for tax free, and the gear from the sold cars goes back onto the new ones.
So basically the only money they spend is the money to have the livery's put on and to have someone put the gear in to the new cars.

I might change more of those links to the basic ones.. Damnit I really thought I'd changed enough. I wish this site could take more requests, but then that'd obviously make the site vulnerable again.

You missed the greatest car of all

Oh man I didn't even see that one! God these VF's are looking awesome.
Can't wait to have the full game Australian-ified with the ambo's, fire truck and everything.

I'll add that to the WIP now alongside Moosey's.

Argh, I cant see the greatest car cause of the stupid forum limits on those fancy links :(

On the topic of car models, I'd absolutely love to see the following made:

 - Unmarked Holden Ute (not sure on the exact model they use here in the ACT, probably a VE/VF)

- Northern Territory Hilux Paddy Wagon (Cage and tarp instead of the pod used in more civilized states)

- NSWPF Road/Snow Safe Lexus Hybrids (mostly after the Snow Safe car for some winter Mt Chiliad patrols)

- More Aussie unmarked cars, not sure about other states but here we have a variety, would love to see a Falcon, Camry, maybe a Landcruiser or similar (pretty sure ACT has a RAV4 too, but who wants to drive one of those?)

Totally get that car models take a ton of time and sometimes a bunch of cash as well, so I get that these most likely wont get made, just putting it out there since we've got so many talented aussie car modders here :)

I saw a NSW Mercedez Roadsafe car on GTA5-mods.com when I was looking, it was from one of the people in the Aussie devs on other sites links I think, if not I'll try and find it again.

Depends on the state's and the areas of the state's too. I was up at the Sunshine Coast for New Years and I saw about 15 VE's and only one VF. But down in Melbourne most are VF's, I've seen a few VFII's and there's still a few VE's hanging around here and there. And then up where I live my local cop shop got 3 VFII's (for GD) around February this year.

Funding is different between the states, I think NSW has the most funding between QLD, VIC and NSW, so yeah certainly does depend on where you live and the big cities I'd imagine the big cities are the priority for getting the new cars.
My local cop shop uses a mix of camry's, pajero's, paddy wagons for GD's, and Highway Patrol for this area is based in a city about 45 minutes away, they still make it here and make a day of cracking down here a few days a week. Haven't seen a VE in a while now that you mention it.

In northern outback NSW like Dubbo and upwards they're still pushing the VE's apart of their HWP fleet.

An idea that's just been sparked: I'd like to see a Toyota Camry GD car - QLD use them for Highway Patrol cars, and there's been some detectives roll around in a camry with just dash and rear window lights around this area.

I'm pretty sure I saw a Camry model on GPM from Moose, so it's on the way i'm assuming. EDIT: The site is being a b*tch and I didn't see the above posts, so there ya go, I was right XD

We were staying with some friends who live right on the VIC side of the border near Echuca and you can sometimes see NSW police in VIC and vice versa, and they told us that if you call the police it'll usually be a NSW unit that responds because their local station isn't manned all the time.

And I also have a marked Camry on the drawing board somewhere, but it's vicpol and everyone seems to have a "f*ck Victoria" attitude

It's alright, i'll just skin it XD

Edited by SkillfulCorpse

Yeah I don't always see nsw and vicpol responding in each other states here so much, but I know they do back each other up when they need. They do go across the border for food while on patrol too, I saw that happen the other week

incase anybody cares what my current project is

edit: oh god please remove australian police gaming from the links on the first post. they're the ones who stole that other paddy wagon and I kid you not they're also the reason why I'm not releasing every model as I finish it

Does anyone have a decent tutorial video they can share for ZModeler? Have a car I'd like to convert to a police model, but dear god there are so many buttons and things in that damn app!

What model you got?

I don't think there's any good tutorials, but I haven't had a real good look. I learnt the hard way by lots of trial and error

XB Falcon (with permissions ;)). I'm not 100% sure they were ever used IRL (I did find a couple of photos of a VIC highway patrol candy-car XB, but thats about it). I know its a ford and all, but I think it'll make a nice older patrol car

That'd be a nice variation to all the modern cars.

Some bits of advice I can give you to start off is muck around with zmod a lot. Don't give up too soon or you would've just wasted your money. And if you ever get up to scratch modelling something (eg. Lightbar or a piece of gear) use a different program for the modelling bit, and then import it to zmodeler for the texturing and converting into the game format. The modelling tools in zmodeler are useless. I suggest using either blender or 3ds max. 3ds Max costs money but is a bit better than blender which is free. That being said I've used blender for years and still haven't found any problems with it
