A question - 1.7 update patch not working (GTA IV)?

Featured Replies

Greetings everyone,

I have not gamed for about two years, because I am enjoying my real life too much! However, I recently got my laptop cleaned and have reinstalled GTA for fun.

However, I do have a problem, I have tried updating the game with the 1.0.7.0 patch, however the app that tries to do it, takes a couple of minutes trying to locate my game and then says 'error, - failed'.

Is there a fix to this please?

thank you.

How did you get the game? i.e Rockstar Social or Steam?

I bought the physical cd rom game online. Is that different?

So.. you have physical copy or you purchased it from where exactly?

Physical copy, from Amazon and delivered through the post. The last time I used it (2 years ago) updating it worked fine?

Ah, now things make sense. What program are you using to update?

Have you tried moving the app inside the game folder itself then initiating it? (goes without saying run as admin)

No worries!

Right, almost there. It has run finally, but has now stopped temporarily and says " SOurce file not found: ........... "Media1.cab" in my GTA directory.

Is this something that should be there?

Also the MSI file did not work, so I tried the EXE file-  this one.

Actually, the Medai1.cab file was in the rar download, I have moved that to the GTA directory and hopefully that will work.

Great now it is updated! Thanks a lot for the help.

Finally any other main bits needed for the install ofLCPDFR?
