Can't Extract Installation File

Featured Replies

I'm having a tough time figuring this one out, hopefully someone on this forum will be able to offer some insight. I've downloaded the installation files, but when I try to extract them into the GTAV folder, I get the following error message:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\LSPDFR 031 Install _Alternate_.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged

I tried extracting it with both Winrar and 7zip, but both reported errors with the file. I've also tried re-downloading the file, but the same problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Extract it in a separate folder, not within GTA V.

That's what I tried first. I made a subfolder within my downloads and tried it there. Same result.

If you're using WinRar, try using 7zip, or uninstalling and reinstalling WinRar altogether. I had some problems in the past with it, and a simple reinstall of it solved everything.

Unfortunately I tried that as well. I actually installed 7zip for the first time when WinRar wasn't working. The error shown on 7zip is different, but it still won't extract.

Then it might be the website itself, I've noticed an important ammount of people unable to extract stuff in the last few hours.

I think you might be right. Some of the WinRar forum posters seemed to think the file had to be corrupted in some way. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Also, thanks for all your previous suggestions.
