I keep trying to install but keep getting the same error message

This has been asked and explained so often. Next time just please read a bit on the support forum first, you would have found plenty of people with the same problem.

It's such an easy solution:

- Remove "read-only" property from GTA IV's root directory

- Run installer as admin

i am currently running as admin. how do i remove the read only property from gta IV's root directory???

right click the gta iv (or grand theft auto iv) folder and go to property, then untick the read only box.

It is particularly important that the commondata folder and all the files inside it are not read only.

got it to finally work now the game doesnt start up . i keep reading to download the patch but everytime i do it just gives me an error message

1) What is the error message and where are you receiving it at (when you download, when you install, when you try to run the game, etc).
