Hello my name is bfaith1407, i bought gta 5 for pc on disk and downloaded it and i keep getting this stupid ERROR 203 when trying to download the updates and install them on Rockstar games social club, i have ran a program to check and see if my laptop can run GTA 5 and everything checked out, I was wondering if their is anybody else that has this same problem and if there is a fix? All i want to do is play LSPDFR and have some fun, so if there is anyone that can help me i would greatly appreciate it, I have Teamviewer if anyone can help me.

My PC Specs are Windows 8- Processor Intel (R) Core(TM) I5 -3230 M CPU@ 2.60 Ghz

                                               Installed Memory(RAM)-6:00 GB

                                                System type-64 bit operating system x 64- based Processor

I can't really find anything about Error 203 on the Rockstar Forums, so I'd suggest to open a support ticket with them.

I have bruteforced the problem and tried about everything to fix it.
This is how I solved the problem for me and my friends:

1. Install software that limits your broadband i.e Netlimiter.
2. Limit the downloadspeed of GTA V to somewhere between 400 and 500 KB/s.

Why (I think) this works:
I think the launcher can't handle full downloadspeed and therefor it discards alot of data, resulting in an error. Think of it as as packages beeing sent down a conveyer and at the end someone is counting the packages. If you send too many, at some point that person will lose the count and have to start over; and you get error 203. But if you limit the speed, that person will manage to count every package and everything will work.
You still might experience some problems now and then, but not nearly as often.
