Trimmed RPF files in "\mods" folder possible?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I was wondering if we could make a separated copy of archives and folders on a larger hdd then edit them with open iv for adding mods. Once finished editing, just delete all the unmodified data therefore trimming the modified archive and still have the mod and the update dlc stuff still work flawlessly.

My reasoning behind this: I and many others have windows and gta v installed on a 120gb SSD so my free space is less than 12gb. The x64 folder is 18gb, see my problem. The theory is a modified audio rpf  could use way less hdd space and still work correctly, possibly other files as well.

This could potentially be like the first generation of gta sa mods which loaded with asi files while still leaving the rpf files alone.

well it's a good thing the resident.rpf is all I need to mod

Well it might be possible to not copy the entire x64 folder to /mods to mod sound files.

make the following subdirectory tree in /mods

"\x64\audio\sfx\"

now copy the "STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR.rpf" (crown vic sound mod example) from the gta v root folder "\x64\audio\sfx\" to "\mods\x64\audio\sfx\"

edit THIS file in open iv according to the readme.

Gonna try it now.

It works perfectly for cvpi sound and american sirens mods.

Right, you don't need to copy entire folder to \mods... only the files you're modifying.
