Separate install for GTA:O

Featured Replies

Afternoon guys & gals.

Sorry if his has already been posted. However, I want to be able to also play GTA Online without fear of being banned, because R* made the wrong decision by not making GTA two separate installs.

Anyway, I have GTA on Steam, I have copied a fresh install of GTA onto a separate SSD called GTA:O and have another SSD called GTA:Mod where my modded install is. I've blocked GTAV.exe and GTAVLauncher.exe from my Firewall, so shouldn't be able to connect to internet.

However, how do i go about being able to run the modded GTA on it's own? As I'm concerned Steam will have a hissy fit and won't let it run.

Many thanks <3

Just use one version of the game, but use a mods folder.. that way you'll have both vanilla files online and modded files in single player (you'll need to remove a couple files each time you want to go online. but you can re-add them if you want to run mods.

link on how to use a mods folder - http://openiv.com/?p=1132

it'll save a lot of time.. and it'll save a lot of space on your SSD drives.

I'll have a look into that. Ideally was looking for the easiest way, being lazy ya' know!

If I use a mods folder, there's a few programs out there that will actively disable the mods folder. I'm still used to the old fashion way.

a mods folder is the easiest way. Also no other mods should disable the folder.. the only time it'll be deemed unusable is if you remove ASIloader.dll and OpenIV.asi from your directory (which you should do if you want to go online)

Okay once the fresh install is downloaded, I'll get started again xD

Thanks for your help bud.

I could just copy over the files that are already modded into the mod folder from the other install I have.

I've created the mod folder and copied over the RPFs etc. However, what happens when I come to install LSPDFR and the other scripts?
