Texture popping on a upgraded graphics card

Featured Replies

Hello people.

today i have upgraded to a MSI GTX 980 6GB graphics card and am getting texture popping alot sometimes it happens it don't it really only happens when am driving pretty fast etc, am not sure if this is my CPU doing it but specs below.

windows 10

8:GB of ram

MSI GTX 980 6GB

500 wat power supply crossair.

AMD athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor 3.00 GHz

this issue also happend abit with my older graphics card which was a AMD 7770 1:GB

I had the same issue when I first started running two 980 in SLI. Is it random green textures?

Not sure how I resolved it. Have you tried running installing the drivers completely including deleting all traces of them? NVidia has just released a new driver today for Windows 10.

Finally, make sure you're not exceeding the VRAM threshold.

The VRAM is perfectly fine & it's not green texture popping it's the buildings roads and everything else i have installed the new drivers for the graphics card on they main website still i can't open nvidia control panel not sure if that's because of windows 10 or what anyways thank's for being helpful.

I might be ending up reinstalling back to windows 7 if it keeps doing it because GTA V is very unplayable with that texture popping crap lol

silly me i didn't even see the new patch from Geforce 355.60 if am correct ill update now and give this a try.

No don't do that! - Go back to Windows 7 that is.

I too had Windows 10 stopping me from opening control panel. It means your nvidia drivers are not installed, it's still using Windows. I had same issue.

Go into control panel, force uninstall the drivers and then run the file from nvidia website. Took me a few attempts, but I did it eventually and now I'm running flawless.

Didn't see the edit of the above post. Edited to not confuse.

No, I even punched my computer. I don't recommend it.. Didn't get control panel opened.

If you need any more help, holla!

It may be your drivers, though your CPU is in the low-mid end set of processors. I'd highly recommend upgrading it when possible, as it is potentially bottlenecking your GPU, which means the GPU will not run at its full potential.

^^ that's what i am going to do soon but wouldn't the power supply need to be upgraded because am sure 500 wat's is pretty low. i do see bits of bottlenecking god knows if it effects the FPS.

infact i can't even hardly see any bottleneck.

Anyways to the topic i have uninstalled the drivers fully uninstalled them but the nvidia control panel is still on the tap same as the AMD control panel can't seem to remove it from the tap selection.

holla! holla!

Sounds like your drivers aren't being removed correctly.

Found this online

Same thing happened to me. Neither GeForce or the Control Panel was working, but I got it to work after reinstalling the drivers.

I uninstalled Geforce Experience and all the drivers. Then I deleted the main Nvidia folders (should be in your C drive). It might say that some of the files can't be deleted, but that's okay since I read somewhere you really only need to delete the Geforce Experience folders.

There's one or two folders somewhere in your C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation Nvidia (X86) program file for Windows 64-bit . I just deleted everything else like the other Nvidia folder program on the other Program file folder (the non X86) just to be sure even though some of the files could not be deleted which was fine because you will reinstall them again so just delete what your computer will let you. Good Luck!!

Let me know how you get on. I'd suggest maybe doing the same for those pesty AMD drivers.

Also, are you running the install in Admin mode?

Not sure if this application would help - http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html

Shouldn't accept the OS loading up GPU drivers though. Have you tried reinstalling your old AMD, then reinstalling the new nVidia card?
