LSPD:FR 0.1c - Feedback

Sup,

Alright, so I've played the mod for a couple of hours now, and I've played it enough already to pinpoint some of the bugs, good features and bad features. I'd also like to mention that I do understand this mod is brand new for GTA V, is in beta, and will obviously be very buggy and lack features for the time being. Lets get started.

Pros:

  • New menus are an incredibly nice touch. It's far more satisfying to be able to spam enter to call in backup while selecting a unit through just a couple of button pushes, rather than having to remember all the different F(number) keys to call in backup. However, I think the menu should be able to be controlled through the scroll wheel, as it's sometimes difficult to call backup with the arrows keys during a pursuit.
  • The new garage is very nice, it obviously allows the player to have a few more vehicles than previously featured in GTA games, although the background drop in the garage is just nice to have. More immersion into the police life, I suppose. But really guys, a jet?
  • As with the first one, the menu for the interactions is a fun little gimic to have around. It's more of a joke feature, but for the people who want to try and put themself into the game as much as possible, it's cool to have all that accessible within a few button presses.
  • The customization options are few at the moment, but it's nicer than previous mods. Obviously, due to GTA V's superior graphics and textures in comparison to GTA IV, the player models are a lot more detailed than before, but the ability to mix and match uniforms, insignias and little pieces of equipment is pretty cool.
  • The way that keybinds to features have been reduced, such as stuffing multiple options into one menu, is a big step in the right direction. I know for a lot of players, including myself, GTA IV was both frustrating and very daunting when we first played LCPD:FR, because there was so many controls to try and remember. However, now, it's just extremely simple, and you don't need to be tabbing out every second.
  • The police AI are smart (not always) in most situations. I don't know whether this has been tweaked loads by the mod, although the way police react to certain situations is good. When you manage to box in a car, police will come behind to try and trap it, and then some officers move in to arrest while others stay back and cover. It's a nice feature, and makes police'ing a lot easier for the player.

Cons:

  • There isn't enough options for the character customization, and some of the menu options are a little bit broken. For example, the accesories you can put on your character, such as glasses on your head, a police hat or glasses covering your eyes, can't be selected individually. Instead, you have to just keep flicking through with the random button until you get what you want. Also, there is only one insignia as far as I know.
  • There isn't currently much equipment to use, making suspect arrests very repetitive and inexciting. I'd love to see pepper spray, tasers and things like that, just to add some variation to the way suspects are arrested.
  • Other police officers can sometimes be very buggy. One example I found was when I boxed in a suspect eventually through a pursuit, she was pulled out of the vehicle, and I proceeded to arrest her. Then, as I went to get her to stand up, another officer takes cover behind his car and starts to shoot her. At this point, I'm forced to watch in horror as she just casually gets shot while trying to standup in handcuffs. I know it's early days, but the AI are an absolutely critical part of this mods success, so it's vital that they work superbly.
  • As of right now, all the callouts appear to be pursuits. There's no shootouts as far as I could see, there's no drunk people causing problems, and it's a bit boring after a while. Just need a big variation in callouts, and with the way GTA is and the different in land as you go through the map, I see no reason why there can't eventually be more callouts that in LCPD:FR. This is the mod that really needs to hit all the others out of the park entirely.
  • There is a bug sometimes, although it's hard to troubleshoot, as I'm not sure what causes it. There was a Grand Theft Auto, and the two suspects started to flee. I called backup, and one officer got the other guy, but the one female suspect I arrested was in handcuffs, although wouldn't goto her knees. She would stand there, do a half-squat and then stand back up in a constant loop. This ment that I was unable to arrest her, and instead had to resort to just shooting her in the head.
  • A lot of pursuits right now seem to take the same route. I haven't tested this specifically that many times, although most suspects seem to head straight for the airport, around the bend and in and out of the car park. Just make them go anywhere, there's so much possibility.
  • One super bad problem aswell is the speed of the AI's vehicles. I call in backup for a pursuit, and a cruiser of the exact same type comes past me at 150mph and just zooms ahead. Meanwhile, I'm stuck at a certain speed. The pursuit suspects also just speed up randomly at certain points, just to slow down again a little bit down the road.
  • Also, Trevor coming out of nowhere and punching you in the face isn't pleasant.

In conclusion, the game is very early stages and there's obviously going to be a lot of problems. Although, I think that with a lot more features that are possible, this mod will be absolutely fantastic. There's SO much potential with GTA 5, and I think that you guys have done a decent job of getting this mod out in just a few months, at the stage it's at already. I probably missed a lot of things from this list, although it's just what came to mind.

Good luck with the mod!

I also have some feedback. Although LSPDFR is just a beta release right now, it certinily needs more features. It is indeed very stable and it has not crashed at all. I've listed things that are really missing in the MOD and would absolutely a god send if you can add these features in an update.
