LCPDFR Will Not Install - Windows 64 8.1

Featured Replies

I have Windows 8.1 and every damn time I try to remove the "Read-Only" attribute it will not go away the dang thing always comes back, here are the things I have tried that have ultimately failed me:

1. Going to advanced and allowing myself ownership of the file

2. Going to CMD and doing: attrib -r +s C:Program Files (x86)Rockstar GamesGrand Theft Auto IV

3. Running CMD as an Admin and then repeating #2

4. Logging in as an Administrator (I'm the only user on my computer so I have admin rights already)

5. Downloading that BS "Take Ownership" program that doesn't do a thing.

6. Copying the file to a USB and trying to remove the "Read-Only" Attribute on my Windows Vista Computer, It works on Vista but as soon as I move it back over to Windows 8.1 it Does the same thing all over again.

I am extremely frustrated and would like help if anyone would be so kind. I love playing LCPDFR but the Developers really do make it a pain in the ass. There are many ways to code a program to install running around the Read-Only attribute and for some reason this Group of Developers is seemingly incompetent of doing so.

Now I do as well understand that asking for help and then bashing the Developers leaves me open for comments in which people are only ranting on my rant some are more than likely to reply along the lines of "than why are you" so please come up with something better if you do so choose to reply to my ranting. Forgive me if I seem rude, I've been using Windows Vista the last God knows how long and I have no clue how to work Windows 8.1.

With all this being said if anyone is able to offer help thank you so much! if you could contact me VIA Skype that would be grand as well.

Again Thank You.

PS. This is the proper section for my Support Request due to the fact it is GTA IV that is causing my problems.

Considering you've resorted to calling the developers incompetent, I wouldn't expect much. As for read-only, it's a common Windows "glitch". You can't change the settings on program folders (atleast not so the checkbox is checked).

As you are requesting support for the installation of LCPDFR, you need to use the LCPDFR Troubleshooter in the LCPDFR Support Requests section.

Feel free to report my post if you think I closed the post in error.
