Textures loading / disappearing *commandline.txt in folder*

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm not sure what to do. I can usually figure things out by a simple google search or something like that, but I cannot seem to fix this issue. It recently happened and I thought I could fix it by a fresh install. Everything works up until I install car mods I start to lose textures. Before, this never happened, and all of a sudden it started to happen. I've tried multiple commandlines, tweaked my GTA settings, but cannot seem to resolve it. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Below is my commandline, specs, and mods currently installed. I'd also like to state I don't get texture loss until about 10 minutes after I start playing.

Mods installed:
LCPD:FR 1.0c
VdH Policehelper with tow scripts and coroner
ELS V8
5 Car mods
Brake light mod
Chikamaru's Traffic loader

and CryENBv2 mixed with Vision ENB.

Just a quick update if anyone was wondering: It seems that my traffic spawner (Chikamru's Real Traffic) might be causing it. After further research, I came across a topic with a similar issue and will try other traffic spawners and update you guys. Topic can be found here: http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131523

Update: I installed traffic flow v5 and everything seemed to be in order. Although, around 10 minutes in, I got a "GTA IV unrecoverable fault: please restart your game - (bunch of numbers here)" It wasn't the SMPA60 error either. Any ideas on this?

Try to keep your installation light. Limit the scripts you install to the ones you absolutely need or use often. I see no reason to install more than 3 high-poly police vehicles on a single player installation, why?
police and police2 spawn in traffic and parked, so they need to look the part. One additional personal vehicle that you may change as soon as you get tired of it. No other police vehicle will spawn unless you have a wanted level or you spawn it in. This will keep the .img lightweight and easy to deal with.

Try deleting the commandline.txt completely. I have never had luck with one, they always cause texture loss for me. If this doesn't work or isn't an option, bump your availablevidmem up a few ticks at a time and test.

Oh, also try experimenting with PreloadAllModels in the LCPDFR.ini file.

GTA IV is a terrible port to PC and has garbage optimization. Even if you have a NASA certified super-computer, the game will never like being heavily modified. keep your installation light and maybe even bump your ingame settings back a bit. (I know your computer should be more than capable, the game just isn't.)
