Brand New Need And Honest Answer.

Featured Replies

Hello,

Well on YouTube last night I have stumbled upon a plethora of all of these police mods and add-ons for the GTA 4 game. Yes, I agree I am probably 6 - 8 months behind all of you guys but I have been online for the past 7 hours looking at all of the different base police modding kits and websites. In all honesty what is the best website out their to download so I can play cop in my own little world.

Thus far, it seems like the LCPD FR is the front runner among all modders. What do you guys think? (And yes I realize all of you probably are huge fans of LCPD FR and this may be biast.)

Welcome to the forum! Well, to be honest, I know only 2 mods who allow you to play as a LEO and that's LCPDFR and police pursuit mod. I've tried both and I can honestly say without being biased that LCPDFR is way more realistic than PPM. LCPDFR just has way more features and gives a more complete and immersive experience which I didn't get when playing PPM. However, it's up to you which one you prefer of course.

As for car mods and other scripts, there are a bunch of websites who offer a lot of these like gtapolicemods, GTAIVmods, gtagarage, gtainside,... Also, you could check this site too as the download section has a couple of good mods as well. As for learning how to put all these mods in the game, there are a couple of tutorials on youtube and the sites I mentioned. Be careful though not to overmod your game since that could give problems with your game and LCPDFR, seeing it was made to run on a vanilla copy of GTA IV.

From what I understand there are two major police mods for GTA IV; LCPD: First Reponse and Team Neo's Police Pursuit Mod (http://www.policemod.com/)

It comes down to whichever you prefer. Both have bugs and will crash occasionally. You can probably do more in LCPD:FR but PPM has some interesting callouts (perhaps sacrificing realism for fun?) but also some where you just get destroyed by someone with an rpg. What you'll find with most people on this forum is that they eventually came to prefer lcpdfr. What PPM has going for it (if you like this sort of thing) is an interesting stats/levelling/almost rpg-like system where it records what crimes you commit against the work you do, you get paid a wage accordingly and receive a police officer level.

If you wish to modify your game to be police-like more, consider adding custom police cars using SparkIV, realistic weapon stats/sounds, the ELS Emergency Lighting System mod for ELS-enabled custom cars etc. You can find these kinds of custom content in the downloads section here, in the downloads section of gtapolicemods.com or on websites like gta4-mods.com or gtainside.com

Thanks guys. Based on what I have been reading over the past few hours it looks as though the LCPD FR will be the one for me. Yes the PPM does kinda look cool with the stats and what have you. But, it seems as though ELS does not work in that program. And seeing how I used to work for the RCMP on an Auxiallry basis lights just tickle my fancy in all the right places. Hopefully after I get all of this worked out I can hop on one of these mulyiplayer RP sessions. It looks like a ton of fun!

Heeeeeeeelllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Hum, right.. Now that that is out of my system..

How are you doing? It is great that you decided that LCPD:FR is the mod you are going to use. I can't recommend it enough myself (Though I admit it is biased.. too lazy to try PPM.), I really love the immersion and it has kept me a loyal comer. As far as ELS goes, I personally can't not use it. It adds so much immersion if you get the right settings so that the lights actually flash and gleam like they should against walls, cars, etc. It will take a bit to get everything up the way you like it and everyone likes things differently.

I would definitely suggest doing some changes to your Sirens maybe even weapon sounds, it creates a lot of immersion and it just really sounds/feels good. I'm rolling with a Police Roleplay group and for the first time every police vehicle of mine is modded at once, everyone uses ELS and the same uniforms.. When in this environment with dispatch it is absolutely amazing. The only issue with LCPD:FR is that there is some bugs in MP, but it is still workable. I'm sure you could get some links to some good mods VIA Youtube or here, depending on what tickles your fancy.. Are you going Fictional, Generic or off of the States/Countries? This'll help narrow down your search.

I will most likely be looking for some type of Canadian police enforcement vehicles, OPP, RCMP or some type of local cars. However I have been looking at some of the State Trooper vehciles and some do look absolutely fantastic. Trust trying to get everything downloaded, my computer is working its ass off right now with downloads and updates. Once i get up and running and figure this whole fun mess out hopefully I will be able to get to MP with some people.

Seems like a lot of fun for sure!

Excellent. You have been doing some research, which speaks volumes about yourself.

Yes on this site if you ask the question which is best, LCPDFR or Police pursuit mod you will get a biased answer because most here have made that decision long ago. But even though it's biased, it's still an honest answer when people say they they prefer LCPDFR otherwise they wouldn't be here.

I tried PPM and son't get me wrong it's a good mod and a lot of work has gone into it but for me anyway there just is no comparison. I found PPM had far too much text going on accross the screen and just didn't have the same realistic atmosphere. Anyway this is something you are going to have to make your mind up about too. When you have tried both we will see you back here :)

A good site for related downloads is GPM GTA Police Mods. But that said there are lots of smaller sites with downloads that are exclusive to that one site. This site for example in the download section has several exclusive items.

Best advice is keep doing what you are doing which is gathering info but dont forget to actually play as well :)

Welcome to the forums.

Edit: there is a Toronto mod with cars sirens and all sorts available in the download section of this site if thats something that interests you. There are also other more general Canadian items ranging from car paintjobs to sirens as well. Looks like you allready found some of that stuff :)
