Trouble With Latest Steam Update.

Featured Replies

So i launched steam today and it said there was an update so it began to download it. Half way through the update the steam launcher crashed and now it just constantly will open and say "Extracting Packages" then it will close and open then do the same thing again, The only way to stop this from happening is to force close steam in the task manager. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone know a solution?

Didn't have the issue myself, but you can try to repair Steam by deleting a few Steam files in the Steam directory. Just don't delete the Steam.exe and it will repair itself on launch. I'd recommend just redownloading Steam (reinstalling it).

Awsome! I didn't want to uninstall it cause i would loose all my games but i re-downloaded the installer and installed steam to the same area the broken copy of steam was and it replaced the broken files without loosing my games! I can now enjoy steam!
