Not Sure Which Video Card to Invest In

Featured Replies

So my birthday is around the corner and recently I have been debating on a new video card or a next-gen console...I have a pretty solid computer (will be posting Spec's) and the only part of my computer that is really lacking is my video card....and compared to the rest of my computer you are probably looking at me weird because if you look at the rest of my computer you would be wondering why I have such a poop GPU. I'm really looking into getting a Superclocked 760 2GB but if you have any suggestions please let me know :D

Specs :

Case : Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case With Upgraded USB 3.0
Power Supply : 700 Watt CoolMax Power Supply
Processor : Intel Core i7 2600k CPU @3.40 GHZ  2nd Generation
Memory/RAAM : DDR3 4X8 G.B
Video Card :  NVIDIA GeForce 630
Hard Drive : 2 Terabyte
Motherboard : Intel MS IZ77A-G45 ATX

How much you trying to spend on the video card? Because that 760 is only about $250. A next gen console is like $500 including a game and tax.

Yeah I think I would have room since I would have about 400 or so but a video card is more in reach with the amount of money I have than a NG Console plus games

$400?  Overclocked GTX 770 4GB

Oh wow I didn't even see this thank you this is definitely what I need

for $350 get a 2gb 770. Don't waste your money on the 4gb one unless you plan on doing multiple monitors.

I actually do have dual monitors at the moment ASUS VE278Q 27' LCD/Viewsonic VX2260WM 22" Widescreen LCD

Then your good to go with the 4gb. Get another one of those monitors and it will be sweet. good luck.

It's only $50 for double the VRAM, which if the OP plans on playing GTAV, might be needed since the current de-facto open-world title (Watch Dogs) requires 3GB for the highest textures.  And that's the minimum requirement.

Yeah I definitely plan on playing GTA V so I want plan ahead for upcoming titles that will be visually demanding on my GPU

Yep. Almost forgot about GTA 5. Gotta prepare for that. I heard Watch Dogs was pretty unoptimized though.

It's getting there.  SLI support is kinda spotty, and it's easy to tell it's a console-first-PC-later title, but there are some graphical features that are non-existent in console versions.  I've compared PC-High settings to PS4 Watch Dogs and it already is better, when I switch to PC-Ultra, it blew PS4 out of the water.  Hopefully with updates, it will get even better.

I saw the mod that people found to increase it graphically it looks really good but I am sure its demanding

So a 770 might not be possible but I did find a 760 4GB not supeclocked for around 270 but would I still be okay to play games coming up in the near future?

Yes, you should be okay with a 760 for the time being.  Anything is night-and-day compared to your 630 lol

LOL this is true and just making sure I will be good for the future including GTA V I know a overclocked version would be a lot better
