Need help fixing my Zmodeler hierarchy

Featured Replies

I know my hierarchy is messed up, but this is my first model and I'm not sure exactly on how to attach them and setup the hierarchy for the lights. I think this is somewhat correct but not sure. But, then when I export it says "Part multiple instances of LOD:0 of part "extra_1" found. file:GTAIVExport.cpp line:382." I know what this means, that there are multiple extras named extra_1 but I checked the entire hierarchy and there aren't Extra_1's, there is only one of them. Any ideas?

Hi Firefighter 5663,

When Zmodeler complains about a duplicate instance in its hierarchy, it doesn't necessarily specify which instance it is. What I mean by this is that there could be duplicates of "extra_1", "extra_1_L0", "extra_1_L1", etc.

In this case, the "extra_1" instance doesn't seem to be it, so it could be an L0 or L1 instance, as I explained.

Hope this helps,
- Murphy

P.S. Did you receive the config I sent you? If so, how do you like it? [respond via pm]

Thanks, I forgot to add my hierarchy picture in the post, I've added it in, what do you think it is in there?

Hmm, that's quite interesting. Here are a few suggestions I have:

  • hide the extra_1_L2 part and other L1/L2 components that are visible. This doesn't make a huge difference, but you typically only want to show the L0 parts in the hierarchy
  • move the siren below chassis_L0, L1, and L2 in the hierarchy. You usually want the chassis to be the first rendered object in-game
  • Check inside all other components and see if there is an extra_1 instance

Other than these suggestions, I'm not really sure what else to say.

That looks good!

I would also move misc_s below chassis_L2. Were you able to export it without errors yet?

I believe I have it setup now correctly but there is still this error. I have had this error and am not sure what it is. I have checked my hierarchy probably 15 times now and there is no other extra_1 that is named the same or Extra_1_L0 that is named the same. This is getting really annoying because I can't seem to figure this out.

Put all yours extra's in Misc_l and all other stuff like(glass , interiors etc) in example misc_r and make sure you uncheck all of L1 , just check L0 , L1 loads automatic ingame .

I'm kind of confused as to what your saying, should I put everything like all of this stuff below into Misc_I with my extras?
