GTA IV crash and no officer save

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently installed LCPDFR and I'm having some problems. Firstly, if I open the game through steam, it will crash shortly after loading into Niko's apartment, whether the mod is launched or not. Launching the game through the .exe and running it as administrator eliminates this problem, but now my officer wont save, even after going off duty, exiting the mod and saving the game (by sleeping). I have reinstalled the game and mod multiple times to no avail. I have no other mods installed. Another thing to note, after exiting the game (launched from the .exe) a message will come up saying "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: MMA10. Out of memory - Please re-boot your system, after which a message pops up saying gta IV has stopped working. I have used both past and new saves. Help will be much appreciated! I have linked the advancedhook.log and lcpdfr.log files.

Thanks,

Hello.

The out of memory error is normal and can be ignored. It will not cause any issues with your system or game.

I'm not sure what you mean with "officer won't save", can you expand upon that? You're not supposed to save while on duty, and progress while playing as a officer won't save either.

So everytime i go back on duty i have to create a new character? Also do u know whats happening when launching the game through steam?

That's not what I meant, you should continue from a clean save where you used no mods. That's what I do to reduce crashes. I never save my game. Easiest way to get a clean save is to start a new game and then save. Then you just continue from this game, without ever saving.

EDIT: I know that some people are having issues with steam launching the game, so just use the exe instead.

Sorry if im not understanding you, but are you saying that i should create a new, clean game, save that game then play the mod on that clean save and never save it again? In that case my character will save?

Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated :)

I never save while playing GTA IV. You could try removing your saves and starting the game and see if that solves your issue. The save files are located in 2 different places.

X:Users%username%AppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegames
X:Users%username%DocumentsRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegames
Note: The AppData-folder is usually hidden, make sure that you can see hidden files.

Note 2: “X” is the drive where you have installed GTA IV, and %username% is replaced by your username

To make sure you can see hidden folders, do this:

Click Start

Click Control Panel

Click Appearence and Personalization

Click 'Show hidden files and folders' under Folder Options

The option for hidden folders is five check-boxes down

Just after the first mission, in your apartment.

So i save in my appartment and load from there. What about when im finished with being police, do i go off duty and quit or.......?

  • Author

When you are finished you can just quit the game. The thing is, saving after using mods can have disastrous consequences, save corruption and so on.

Ok thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it :)

Im also having trouble viewing my crime stats on the website, Is it also down for you?

Glad I could help.

Yes, if you go to the Crime Stats section on your profile you will see this message:

I think that you thought that I was referring to the main character when I said "OK thanks. So each time i go on duty i create a new character??" I was reffering to the police character that you create. Is there a way to save him?

  • Author

No, there is no way to save the Police Character. It will have to be redone each time :)

OK thanks :) I shall be closing the topic, thanks a lot for your help and knowledge,
