This is what happens when you don't move over

I find when travelling and I see a traffic stop going on strobes are more attention getting then LED's, they snap my attention whenever I see them whether it be night or day, every kind of service vehicle in the HRM has a lightbar of some kind, being distracted is a HUGE problem even from something as small as "I don't like this station" & you focus your attention for even a second on the radio anything can happen, incorporate that with texting & driving, even joking around & carrying on can cause accidents.

Wow, I didn't actually think this thread would last over 5 minutes.

Adding some reflective markings to the back of the vehicles certainly wouldn't hurt anything and would likely help quite a bit. One problem problem still remains, though, and that's the large number of people who drive past the police way too closely and way too fast, even when they see the officer ahead of time.

Want to know why? people don't care or just don't know any better & the move over law isn't just in place for Police or other emergency personnel, your supposed to move over for service vehicles, TOW TRUCKS THAT HAVE FLASHY LIGHTS (for decoration apparently), or even broken down vehicles, or even people pulled over to talk on a cell phone, for whatever reason everyone think it's just the police that matter, like they're the only ones that have families to get home safely too.

This kind of topic is one thing I want to express my feelings on, nothing pisses me off more then the lack of consideration for emergency personnel or the lack of respect shown for tow truck drivers in regards to moving over or even any mention of us, my job may not seem to be a big deal but, who do you call when your vehicle is broken down and your stranded? who do you call when you wrap your car around a tree? who do you call when you slide into a ditch at 3am to pull you out? it isn't the police.. you know how many times I've blocked traffic to help a stranded motorist and vehicles don't stop? they tromp on the accelerator and blow by me, cops can at least do something about it, I have yet to see a fatality because of this & I'm sure I will one day, keep this in mind when you decide to not move over.

I agree with DD, it would improve security to have that kind of markings. Still, the flashing leds should be a indicator to slow down.

Well, you should know ineseri that our police are already using those battenburg pattern ;) It's still another great way of making the car more visible during a traffic stop. However, it shouldn't be necessary because it's almost impossible to miss those bright LEDs.
