Over on my Teamspeak, the latest hype is about the 2013 Taurus. I would really LOVE to make one for our clan, but I can't find any unlocked Taurae (don't judge, that's the legit plural), and I'm REALLY skeptical about scratch modeling it. Even if I were to scratch model it, I'd need people to help me and walk me through it. So far, I know the basics. I know how to make the polys with the blueprints and all, however I don't really know how to texture it properly or make it optimized for GTA IV. Is anyone kind enough out there to help me? If not, possibly doing a trade for something not too big? Like a console (I haven't mastered light bars), or something small like that. It would be so very greatly appreciated. I have had some bad models, but I've come out with 2 since the bad model epidemic, and they've all got over 4 stars. Also, I have been asked to make people's clan mods and also make various packs as I have been accredited as a 'good modder/modeler'. Thanks a lot guys, I hope I won't be let down :)

I'm no modeler, but I know as a modeler the one thing you don't want to do is beg for other's to do the work for you. Also, trying to put out there that you're mods have four stars and up makes you seem really desperate. I would totally understand if you were new to scratch modeling and you just asked for advice but the fact that you're trying to say that, "I'm a good modeler and I will do anything to get a Taurus" just disappoints me.

You should have just cut the entire post short by saying, "I'm new to scratch modeling and I'd really appreciate any help I can get on creating a model, particularly a Ford Taurus".

 

If you want a Ford Taurus unlocked, there is this one >here. Other than that, people won't just hand it over to you because you ask nicely or you boast that you're an upcoming modder who really needs to prove himself to his clan by making a model.

Yeah, I understand. Just wanted to clarify some things though because you seem to have misunderstood some things. I am not asking for people to do anything for me, I'm asking for people to help me. Show me. Not do for me. As for my little back story, I'm trying to explain why. You think if I just go and say "Hey, I'm new to scratch modeling and I need help, kthnxbye <3" will really attract anyone's attention? I also offered to trade something as well. If I came off as boasting, I apologize. I actually want to prove to people I'm not a nobody with no previous work asking or "begging" for stuff. Anyway, I hope that clarified some things.

Good idea, however, I'm not familiar with 3DS Max. Can I use Zmodeler to scratch make a car? I know how to do that, it's just the textures I have no idea how to do. Like setting up the materials and all, also, I only have a basic understanding for the hierarchy layout.

Well, if you used Zmodeler to make a car, I've heard it is a lot harder to use than 3ds. But it is your choice.

Haha, I know how to do all that :) but I'm looking for a 2013. Currently, I have one, however I don't have release perms on it, so what I'm planning on doing is very few existing parts from the older car, heavily modifying them and then scratch modeling the rest. *yawn* I was up all night and now it's 5:31 AM. It should be fun to model drunk on tiredness

Well, you can use zmodeler, but 3ds max is way better, easier, and can save you some time !

Also, regarding the hierarchy i suggest you import a default car model, then replace every part of it with your vehicle. it's easy: you just have to rename the part of your cars: for example "door_dside_f_L0" for the front door on the driver side, etc.

Take some time to study the hierarchy of a default vehicle, see which parts is where, etc.
