Controller Remapping

Featured Replies

Is it possible to remap the 360 controller, or disable it in game and use xpadder in its place?

I want to remap some of the buttons to other functions and get rid of the ones I don't use, like mapping the taser to the dpad for example. I am already using xpadder with the default 360 controls and it works, there are just a lot of button maps that interfere that I want to replace.

Sure that would be possible. Just disable the controller in game, via the options menu if you are planning on using xpadder. IIRC it's not possible to remap the default controller.

How? I'm using the official 360 one, and I only see the option to disable directinput and its already off, I don't see an option to disable the controller.

Then I guess it's not possible to disable it in game. I don't have GTA IV installed atm so I can't check. Have you looked through the options? Maybe it is possible to remap? Otherwise you could use xpadder to cross-remap them. (Binding "A" button to "B" button etc).

I've checked, I can remap the keyboard but that doesn't help. I'd like to get rid of up on the d pad bringing up the phone, and replace it with something else, and I'd like to have the buttons I rarely use delegated to the keyboard and use the new buttons for things I actually want to use.

I wonder if there is a control file that's editable for keyboard and the controller hidden somewhere.
