Hey guys 

I am having troule installing a GFWL update. When i go to install it it comes up with error message 

 

" Failed installing title update. See Log at C:UsersAsh and ColinAppdataLocalMicrosoftGFWLieInstallLogstitle.update.log for more details."

 

 

Here is the log

Does anyone know why this is happening???

 

And also when i am loading the game it gets past all the loading pictures of people and then kicks me out of the game.

 

Any Ideas???

Running the game + Installer as administrator? Legal copy of the game? 

It is a legal copy of the game, I am trying to run as admin

Trying? Can you disable UAC: Disabling UAC:

1. Open the start menu.

2. Type “UAC” (without quotes)

3. Pull the “slider” all the way down and accept the changes. A reboot may be required in some rare cases.

 

Also, are you running the exe file? 

Yes I am running the .exe file and I am running as admin just tried the solution and that didn't work

Are you using this patch (http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145406-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-7-Title-Update-v-1-0-7-0-English-1-0-6-1-Russian-1-0-5-2-Japanese-)? 

That is the update the fails to install.

I think I know whats going on; the installer is unable to find the GTA IV root folder. Maybe the path to GTA IV directory in Windows Registry does not exist or is incorrect. Have you moved GTA IV to some other folder? Try changing the path to GTA IV directory in the registry manually. That might help with your issue. 

How do I do that?

Open up regedit (Startmenu > Type "Regedit") It should be under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARERockstar Games

Before doing that though, I would recommend reinstalling GTA IV since messing with the registry is a potentially dangerous process. I noticed that you are not using the default location for GTA IV. Any reason for this? 

I just like to have all my games in the one folder to find them easily instead of having 500 folders with 1 game each and I have only just done a fresh install of the game is there any need to reinstall again?

Then these kind of problems will occur, sadly. Try reinstalling the game, if that does not work: Come back here.

Just tried with a fresh install and it is still coming up with the same error message

And where did you install the game? Can you post a screenshot of your GTA IV folder?

I reinstalled the game to c/ programfilesx86/rockstar games/gta4

Did that work better? I think the folder is supposed to be "Grand Theft Auto IV" btw.
