In the Desktop Dispatching system and many numerous police skin packs, there are patrol units and traffic units; what is the difference between the two?

 

I want to make sure I assign the correct people to the correct area, just to make it easier to dispatch.

Patrol- handles "standard" service calls such as Disturbances,suspicious people, traffic stops....all of the regular stuff.

 

Traffic- mostly does speed enforcement, handles motor vehicle accidents, traffic stops....everything related to cars and traffic.  

Patrol: Takes calls, and what not

 

Traffic units: 99.99% of the time they deal with traffic (speeding, accident ect...) Then 00.01% of the time they will respond to calls/help out an officer 

Patrol - responds to shoot-outs, muggings

Traffic - responds to accidents, pursuits
