Ok so i bought gta 4 from walmart so its the disk version 

 

Every time i go to play the game, In game i cant click play on the RGSC newsletter thing so i just press enter. Then once i get the game started it will play all the music and pictures will come up then the music stops but the pictures still pop up after that it say Windows is Solving The Problem So i checked all of the fourms ran a Diagnostics No errors I have never played the game so i dont have to delete saved games, I have reinstalled everything. I have ran as admin nothing One thing though is when i click read-only box it goes from a check to a blue box so i dont know if that deactivated read-only. I just want help i really like this mod but nobody seems to help me. I have a Win 7 64 bit and 6.0 gb of ram so im outstanding in specs.

Have you tried patching the game to the latest version (1.0.7.0)?  Disk versions generally are always at 1.0.0.0 and that could be causing problems.  Click here for a link to the Rockstar site.

Ok im going to try to install the patch because now before i can even start the game the command box comes up and then crashes and can you explain why the RGSC is bloated ingame??

Ok so you know when you start the game and after all the rockstar legal terms come up the RGSC come up and you have to click play or whatever yea mines is bloated out of the screen and i cant click play so i just keep hitting the arrows on the keyboard and hit enter until  it starts.

It sounds like your screen resolution isn't set correctly in your GTA settings.  When you start up the game (before you hit play), see if you can get to the Options tab and try and change the resolution.

Ok Bud Ill see whats going on with that but now whenn i try to update it its not updating is should i reextract the files and try again?

DAhhh it didnt even patch it just added a GTAIV.exe and it is still 1.0.0.0 and i folllowed the video I wish you had teamviewer so you could show me whats going on

Where did it add the GTAIV.exe to?  Try extracting the patch files right to your main GTA folder and try again.
