GTA IV Crashing with only ELS v7 installed

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have been trying to install ELS v7 all day. The game will open, I press start twice, watch the little movie, and after seeing the black screen with the loading message for a few seconds the game just closes without an error message.

I just got done reinstalling the game, and ELS is the only mod installed right now. I copied everything over, including dsound and Scripthook, as well as xlive and xlive_d. I've already tried removing those one by one and nothing changes.

I've also tried installing ELS v6 first then v7, with no luck.

Also, if it helps, ELS v6 works perfectly with the game.

Extra:

I am running the game as Administrator

I have read the User Guide about 7 times

I have also done several searches; nothing is helping

Any ideas?

Setup: MacBook 7,1 (2010)

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

4GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 320M Graphics Processor

Don't use both dsound and xlive. Choose dsound, it's recommended.

And for ELS7 crashes, look at this :

Especially parts 2C and 2E. Maybe it'll help.

PS : CPU / GPU are a bit weak, if you have lags, try to reduce some settings of ELS.

Thanks for the help. I got rid of xlive.dll and the game has been running strong all day.

What settings should I change to reduce the lag?

EDIT: Never mind, I found it in the post you linked.

It's almost "try and see", but I would say :

[ ENV LIGHTING ]
Range_PRML
Inten_PRML
Range_SECL
Inten_SECL
Range_WRNL
Inten_WRNL
EnvMult_Morning
EnvMult_Evening
EnvMult_Night

[ MISC SETTINGS ]
FlashDelay_Sp
FlashDelayWW_Sp
Els_Range_Pl
Els_Range_Ai
MaxElsCarsAtOnce
ClearRandAiExtras
ClearAiExtrasDist

Also, you can look at for global optimization.

EDIT : I just saw your edit ^^
