Zmodeler - some help?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently wanted to start vehicle modeling - it's been my goal for awhile. I bought a license for zmodeler 2 today - but I have no idea how to use zmodeler. I have no specific objective right now - but eventually I want to create a Los Santos Police Department model pack (based on the cars in GTA V)

I have no experience at all in zmodeler 2. Right now the only thing I know how to do is import a car :P So far all I've done is import the original vapid police cruiser. It gives me tons of errors saying it could now find texture x.png, even though the .WTD is in the same location of the .WFT. So I extracted the textures from vehshare.wtd and police.wtd in a folder. I went into zmodeler, clicked view -> textures browser and added them all. I save it as a .z3d, and re-opened it in zmod. It didn't give me errors, but no textures were on the vehicle except the lightbar ones (they were there the first time I opened it up) Secondly, there's no interior in my cars. It's just square seats - nothing else. I also have no idea how I can import a rambar/lightbar or anything onto the vehicle. It's probably as easy as copy, paste, reposition for a modeler, but I have no idea. Again, some others thing I want to do, but have no idea how to:

Set the headlights (for example I want 2 headlights on a lightbar)

Set the indicators (for example a non-els traffic advisor)

Set the rotators (there's a difference between the rotators and the light, you don't see non-els lightbars rotating)

Set the lights

Modeling objects is probably the easiest but most of that isn't. I'm completely new to this and it would be awesome if there was someone to help me out. I haven't found one tutorial that explains all of this - it's mostly just "mapping ELS" "mapping headlights" "uv-mapping" there was one that was supposed to be good, that was made by NickieB, but he deleted it :(

I would appreciate anything, please don't just tell me to give up. I'm not someone who's just gonna take someone elses lightbar and stick it onto a CVPI, then release it.

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can say is go to Zmodeler's website and look at the basic tutorial. http://www.zmodeler2.com/?mode=docs

Please don't make a car pack. If I were you (and this is what I did to) go read the tutorial I linked you, and then spend a couple good months googling and scratch making your first equipment. Start small with a ball, move on to more advanced things, and then go with a lightbar.

After you have that down move on and make your pack, using stuff that YOU created, and not by simply slapping on other people's parts.

If you are totally new to Zmod you should be nowhere NEAR making any kind of release until at least 6 months, in my opinion.
