Batman: Arkham Origins announced, release Oct 25th

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, upon browsing the web, I stumbled across the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins, the prequel to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

It's not being developed by rocksteady anymore, but by Warner Bros. Montreal, and is expected to be released on October 25th, 2013.

Today, I found some more info on the game. Apparently, it will be set in a winterly version of Gotham City - a real, living GC this time, not a closed off part only filled with thugs like in the previous games. It is said to consist of Old Gotham -  which is basically the world of Arkham City before it is remodeled as a giant prison - and New Gotham, the more modern part of the City, thus making the world twice as alrge as in Arkham City.

The main villian is supposed to be Black Mask, but I've read that there's a bunch of killers trying to get Batman, one of them being Deathstroke. Also, there will be side missions in the game, like various crimes in progress, that will get more challenging as you progress though the game.

My source for all of this are two articles on a German gaming website, GameStar.de (Announcement, Further Info - both in German obviously). However, I think a quick google search will find you the same info on English sites.

Personally, I'm really excited. I played both AA and AC, the latter being in my top three games of 2011. However, the developer change worries me a little bit, but the game mechanics are supposed to stay the same, so I'll hope for the best.

What do you guys think about it? Does the new developer mean certain doom or maybe a fresh input to make the Batman series even better?
