Change Backup cars (Native/Ultimate Backup)

Featured Replies

So I have a problem, I have downloaded about 4 different car packs to use in the game (LSPD, BCSD, FBI, SAHP), and the problem is that I don't know how to make the backup AI use those cars. I have seen many tutorials, posts, and different pages and none of them give me the solution. Is there any way that for example I have assigned 5 cars for LSPD, 5 cars for BCSD, 5 cars for FBI and 5 cars for SAHP and that the peds use them?

(I have already tried changing files from the native LSPDFR Backup and also from Ultimate Backup)

Well if the cars are addons, you have to change their names in Ultimate backup accordingly

I can send you a screenshot of how I did it.

Spoiler

Could contain: text, screenshot, font, number, line

However you have the name the cars accordingly to their file names.

Usually if you're using ultimate backup they should take over.

(Sorry, I marked your answer as being the solution haha).

I've already done that, and when it's time to call for backup only the normal patrols arrive (police, police2, and police3). There is no change.

No worries

Well could provide your CustomRegions.xml file?

Because like you might be only changing the cars in only a few regions and whenever you're out of that region its defaulting to the base cars, assuming you didn't change the vehicles for that region too

The CustomRegions.xml file I have not modified, all the posts I have seen say to modify the DefaultRegions.xml file. Still I have checked by myself the CustomRegions.xml file and I only see three regions “Los Santos Airport”, “San Andreas Parks” and “High Crime Areas”, although of course, I want my backup to be in all Los Santos, not only in those areas.

Well you can provide the Default.xml however I do not recommend modifying it at all because that's what the Custom.xml is for. In case it gets corrupted/doesn't work it falls back to the defaul.xml allowing the plugin to function normally.

You can literally copy and paste the default.xml and rename it to custom.xml

But anyways yeah you can just provide the Default.xml no problem

I followed your advice and copied the information to CustomRegions.xml. I got a file like this.

(By the way, it only has the models of the cars of Los Santos Police Department, I have not included the models of BCSD, FIB, SAHP, I use this as a test only).

Well I went over it and everything seems fine, however I had to set it up a bit different because it isn't supposed to be exactly equal to the defaultregions.xml

But hey, now you have more jurisdictions 🙂  I divided each part of the map into jurisdictions meaning well, Blaine County can have their own set of vehicles, Los Santos Sheriff as well, Los Santos too, tbf you can even add Army jurisdiction and like Airport jurisdiction

Just take a look at how i set it up. If you want to add more just follow the same template. But make sure to check the zones reference to add the zones you want.

Other than that. I have no clue as of why the cars aren't working. Are you sure they have the exact file name, you can try the same name of the ELS file for the vehicle, the one you put in the ELS folder.

CustomRegions.xml

There I tried your file and it worked perfectly! Maybe the problem was that the CustomRegions.xml file was not modified? Anyways, thanks for the help, this did work.

I have two questions to ask you if it's not too much trouble:
1) How can I replace the backup cars in case the cars are not Addon? There are several packs of cars that are to replace, not exactly an addon, so I do not know how to install it so that the peds use those cars (I mean in cases where they are more than 3 cars for the same jurisdiction).

2) Do you know how I can replace the clothes that have a ped of a single car? For example, I want to change the clothing of the cops of one of those 10 patrols without affecting the other 9 patrols.

Glad that it worked 🙂

So for your 1st question if you replace lets say police2, just having it police2 in ultimate backup will use the replacement, since you're replacing the base game car. If there's more than 3 cars in a jurisdiction and you only have 1 replacement, just use 1 car, Ultimate backup only really requires 1 vehicle per vehicle set.

For peds is a bit harder, but you see for example the line that says <Ped... comp shirt="..."
comp pants=...= etc.. ...>

Well the comp shirt, comp pants and so on is what you're looking for to replace with your own compositions numbers, lets say you add a new shirt and it goes to number 45, like when you're in EUP menu or whatever other menu you have to change clothes you scroll through the numbers right, well lets say that a shirt is on number 45.

You put that number in comp shirt ="45" and the ped for that region will use that number

I can send you the file  I actually use in my game and see how I did it. I have a few more regions/peds added and obviously different vehicles.

Don't forget to mark the problem as solved 🙂

All clear with the peds, but I do not understand the cars, let's see, suppose I downloaded a pack of LSPD (replace of course) that has 4 cars (Crown Victoria, Tahoe, Explorer, Charger), three of those cars I can simply replace the police, police2, and police3, but my question is how do I do with the fourth car (eg Charger), to be together with the other 3 cars and the Charger can be used by backup.

Sorry for so many questions 🥲

Well if it's police4 then you just write police4 on the vehicles set.

Its really the same, if it isn't a replacement but instead an addon, you add like like an addon. Now if it's a replacement for a vehicle that you already replace, well I mean I know there's a way of doing it, but I think you gotta rename every file. Like

Lets say you have 2 police2, you rename one as police2 and the other to another name. I think it might work like that, never tried it out and never tested it really. So if you do it do not expect it to work lmao

Also don't worry about the questions, ask away
