SMPA40 + crashing

Featured Replies

Hi there,

So for some reason after re-installing my GTA IV (because I was getting some texture loss) and re-installing my ELS vehicles, scripts, and uniforms I start up my game (by the way I am running my previous save with two civilian vehicles in my parking slots) and go on duty. But after patrolling for no more than 1 minute, my game freezes. I can still hear the sound but my controls and my screen is frozen. So I close GTA IV using my task manager and it says "GTA IV has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution to the problem" so I restart my GTA. Same thing happens again, but I wasn't even on duty. So the third time I start the game up (thinking it's a problem with my save game) I start a new game. Once I pass the taxi depot my GTA crashes and I get a FATAL ERROR: SMPA40

Anyone have a solution to this? Is it my script mods? When I get home (on saturday) I will try installing every mod one by one but is there any other solution?

Thanks.

I can also do a video if that will explain my problem better.

You mentioned you were getting texture loss, which means you have a very weak video card (nevermind, saw your videocard in your sig, it's powerful),

Your memory might be faulty also which is what is causing the SMPA40.

Actually the texture loss was due to a car mod (replaces my whole vehicles.img) I no longer use. My graphics card can play Battlefield 3 + Black Ops 2 in (almost) full graphics so I cannot see how it's a problem. PLUS I have 16GB DDR3 ram.

EDIT: My RAM is only 3 months old and I've only started getting this problem with GTA IV this week so I doubt it's the ram either.
