The game always crashes after a few minutes

Featured Replies

I used this https://gtaforums.com/topic/976691-gta-iv-downgrader/, downgraded to 1.0.7.0 and installed the correct LCPDFR version (The old one, 1.1 Manual install, not the legacy one).

After playing for a few minutes (sometimes 8 minutes, sometimes only 1-2) the screen freezes for 2-3 seconds and then it crashes to desktop without any error message. I looked into the log files but could not find anything.

I tried with and without ELS installed (also with "AI use of ELS" enabled and disabled) and removed every ASI script that is in the downgrader except the ZolikaPatch (it is not possible to remove this patch, because without this patch the game will simply not launch at all, it crashes on startup) and I also tried to play with and without DXVK, and with and without Reshade. I also tried to skip the Radio downgrade part, but the crash is still happen. It seems like there is an issue with the downgrader or with the zolika patch (which can't be removed in this case) but I am not sure.

Is there anything I can do?

If you know another downgrader that works with LCPDFR please send me a link here. I am open to use a different downgrader if this fixes it.

After days of testing I found the problem, I think it is ELS- or the amount of mods I am using. With almost no mods and without ELS it does not seem to crash.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem, I've been trying to find a solution for a while now, how did you manage it?

Hay, sorry for the late answer. Honestly, I am not 100% sure if I really manage it. But after removing ELS it does not seem to crash anymore. Of course it's not so great to play without ELS, but it seems like it is the only solution.

I understand, after some tests I managed to reduce the crashes a lot, I'm getting more than an hour without interruptions. I did the following, I removed all the AI lights in the ELS settings, and I'm using vehicles with simpler textures, every time I use a more current or complex modpack the game crashes several times.

Interesting, on my end this did not work sadly, it still crashes after a few minutes even with a very basic car pack.
